I'm just wondering since I've researched a bit on missile frigates or missile destroyers (or non-missile variants), what do you guys think of these classes of ships that would be good for the Philippine Navy? US: Farragut-class missile destroyers, Garcia-class frigates, Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate, Leahy-class cruiser, Albany-class cruiser UK: Type 22-class frigate Is the question which ship would be good for the Philippine Navy to operate in order to full their role to protect the Philippine's maritime sovereignity? Or which vessel could the current Philippine Navy operate in order to fulfill its taskings. Two similar yet completely different questions, let me know and I'll provide an answer to you.

I would say the former, since the recent order for the PN were Pohang-class vessels, though I'm not sure how useful are missile frigates really are in this case, especially if naval vessels also have to do anti-aircraft defense as well.

I would say the former, since the recent order for the PN were Pohang-class vessels, though I'm not sure how useful are missile frigates really are in this case, especially if naval vessels also have to do anti-aircraft defense as well. So there are a number of issues that the PN need to address these are: preservation of their SLOCs (Sea borne lines of communication), ASW, ASuW & AAW. Along with the ability to operate independently if the Spratly Island disputes turned hot with the PLAN. With that in mind in 2020 and an unlimited budget along with the perfect ashore establishments to provide me with the right number of manpower. Flight 3 Arleigh Burke destroyers, Hunter class frigates (or Type 23 Frigates), Sigma class corvettes, minesweepers, LPD, OPV & Supply class AOR tankers. Possibly Jang Bogo class submarine.

OK, thanks. I would think that the Defense Budget of the current Philippine government would have been stretched to its limit, with this kind of acquisition. During WWII, I'm not sure if it was the US Navy or the Philippine Navy that employed Mosquito fleets to harass the larger Japanese vessels.
Would the Sigma-class corvettes also be a good naval weapon for maritime harassment of hostile larger vessels? Yeah, the tankers and supply ships would also have to be taken into consideration as well.

Now that the two Jose Rizal-class frigates have arrived, the wait for the C-star anti-ship missiles begins.

When will the new submarines be delivered? I’m sure that the PN might have already selected the Scorpene-class submarines for their first acquisition of submarines.

I could see an additional deal in the future where NATO members would have transferred much of their decommissioned corvettes and other old vessels to the Philippines.

Unfortunately, yes. The Philippines does not have a capable shipbuilding industry, from what I can guess.

In the past, the Philippine Navy never had the funds to operate submarines. In present day, the PN's allocated funds were diverted to the Coronavirus pandemic response.
