Napoleon III-ruled France from just before the Franco-Prussian War is teleported by the ASB to the same point in 2017. the ASB makes it so there are no epidemics.
How does the French government and people react to the modern world and modern Western beliefs and values?

How does the French government and people react to the modern world and modern Western beliefs and values? Well the French will lose their seat in the United Nations Security Council as they are no no longer a nuclear power, also the rest of the EU will suffer as well, they now have a country ruled by a semi-dictator.

Well the French will lose their seat in the United Nations Security Council as they are no no longer a nuclear power, also the rest of the EU will suffer as well, they now have a country ruled by a semi-dictator. Do they technically? Napoleon's France never applied to join the EU, nor does it have the necessary conditions in terms of human rights and fiscal establishment to do so. Even presuming that he and the 1870 French would want to join. Mind you having it on the now disrupted EU borders is going to be problematic. I presume the colonial empire doesn't come along as well? If it did then that causes a whole lot more chaos. Also if it doesn't what's the status of France's OTL 2017 overseas departments? If the EU thought it had a mess with Greece, Portugal and Britexit then that would be nothing compared to the loss of France. Also technically France isn't a permanent member of the UNSC because its a nuclear power. That nuclear status only came later, in the 1960's IIRC. However definitely it won't keep the status. Would it go to the EU or would there be arguments for a non-European [decended] state having it, say India or Japan?

It's gonna be unpleasant for the activists... the 1870 French people are much more willing to hurt them if they try to force modern values.

Wonder where the loyalty of the 2017 French Armed forces are, loyal to a French 2017 government in exile ore the French 1870 government.

However from a reply on another site mullana seems to be suggesting that the French colonial empire came along with the 1870 France, so there's no overseas departments from 2017. As such the only 2017 French would be those outside the country at the time. Which would probably include assorted expats in Europe and some forces on NATO or UN duties abroad. Which probably wouldn't be many. As I said in reply this also rather complicates next year's world cup. France, Senegal and Ivory Coast, other than possible expats, are largely/totally gone and possibly also Tunisia and Morocco - although Tunisia might well escape as it only became a colony in 1881 and Morocco in 1912. So three teams are pretty much removed from play. I wonder who would be brought in to replace them.

You think the world is in a mood to play the World Cup, with 2017 France gone i think we might see some sort of global economice crisis happening.

Yes there will be political and economic chaos but what happens in the world cup is far, far more important. Seriously between political, economical and sporting interests there will be a lot of pressure for the tournament to go ahead. Unless the event manages to trigger a major conflict, which isn't impossible I suppose, I can't see them stopping it going ahead.

It terms of the mainland I don't think there's any difference. They lost Alsace-Lorraine in 1871 and got it back in 1919 so should be identical as far as I'm aware. Held the Saar after WWI but that went back to Germany in the 1930s and those are the only changes in the home territories. What they held empire wise, for instance how much of inland Algeria and Senegal they held at this stage. Plus are we talking about actual territory held or just claims, possibly agreed with other European powers?

That might seem less threatening to the French with traditional good relations with the US. Although the current US President could change that!
