What if Rudolf, Crown Prince of Austria (this guy: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudolf,_Crown_Prince_of_Austria ) had a son rather than a daughter in 1883? How would Austro-Hungarian politics have played out if the anti-Hungarian Franz-Ferdinand wasn't the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne in this scenario? Also, considering that Rudolf, Crown Prince of Austria committed suicide in 1889 (when his son would have been just five years old), would his son's education and upbringing have been strongly influenced by Emperor Franz Joseph? In addition to this, would there have likely been a different trigger to World War I in this scenario? Indeed, any thoughts on all of this? |

You must also not forget that Empress Elisabeth or better known as Sisi also lives, as she was shattered by the death of her only son, thirty-year-old Crown Prince Rudolf having a grand son will help here a lot and i think she will spend a lot of time with him maybe it will prevent here from being assassinated in 1898. |

Yes she had Prince Georg of Bavaria who was son of Archduchess Gisela of Austria and had 4 who where sons of Archduchess Marie Valerie of Austria, thus in total Empress Elisabeth had 5 grand sons i can count in OTL. |

Indeed, Emperor Franz Joseph had an ill-fated brother who was named Maximilian. Likewise, the younger brother of Kaiser Karl (in real life) was named Maximilian.
