The Special Features of Andy's Lost Tape states there were survivors. The fan fiction has a survivors including a rogue U.S. Army soldiers, a group of researchers and soldiers in bunker deep in the Everglades (Day of the Dead reference), hostile bikers, and a nomadic survivor community in rural PA.
