I found these maps on the internet. It would explain the distribution of forces in Japan. You'd see the Japan focuses more on minesweeping, coastal patrol, and air defense which is a legacy of the Cold War. Now in current times, they face threat from North Korean ballistic missiles and Chinese incursions. Also if you noticed, the U.S. Navy base in Sasebo focuses on amphibious assault ships and minesweeping since Sasabo is directly facing South Korea. In the event of a Second Korean War, the Marines from Sasebo would be the first to be deployed. The minesweepers would probably be securing the Tsushima Strait in case the North Koreans placed mines to harass U.S. and Japanese ships. Well then good find gillan1220 .

Operation Shadow Wolf ORBAT
During late 1985, following the London Incident, relations between Britain and the United States go from Very Good to Really Terrible. The illegal seizure of power inside Britain by radicals is met by threats made against US military interests within the country. Loyalties among the British Armed Forces are torn but the Americans form a force ready to go and fight everyone in their way if necessary. Diplomatic talks - such as they are - continue while the Americans ready an invasion force, though one with the stated goal of protecting their own bases, personnel and stored weapons.
JOINT TASK FORCE BRITAIN - US XVIII Airborne Corps
10TH INFANTRY DIVISION 1st Infantry Brigade 2nd Infantry Brigade SEATF Plus (attached to division) Division to be airlifted into USAF bases in East Anglia: RAF Alconbury, RAF Bentwaters, RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall & RAF Woodbridge. Paratroopers up from Italy - SEATF, joined by addition parachute training units from the mainland US - will help secure entry by protecting approach routes on the ground but the airlift is planned to be unopposed into US-operated bases where there is the bare minimal British military presence.
24TH INFANTRY DIVISION 1st Infantry Brigade 2nd Infantry Brigade 3rd Infantry Brigade (2nd Brigade, 5th Infantry Division acting as 3rd Brigade) Division at sea in ships including the Fast Transport Ships. No forced entry planned but it is anticipated that when landing at the already secured Southampton, combat might soon be met when moving north to link up with XVIII Corps elements in the Salisbury Plain / Thames Valley area.
82ND AIRBORNE DIVISION 1st Airborne Brigade 2nd Airborne Brigade 3rd Airborne Brigade Division to be airlifted into the US-operated RAF Greenham Common where GLCM missile units are though with the 2nd Brigade tasked to make a landing, an opposed one if necessary, at the Boscombe Down air facility too.
101ST AIRBORNE DIVISION 1st Airborne Brigade 2nd Airborne Brigade 3rd Airborne Brigade Division to be airlifted into the USAF airbases at RAF Fairford & Upper Heyford.
1st & 2nd Ranger Battalions Assigned to multiple tasks across eastern & southern parts of England.
2nd Marine Regimental Landing Team, 2ND MARINE DIVISION 2 RLT is tasked to secure Holy Loch submarine base on the Clyde.
6th Marine Regimental Landing Team, 2ND MARINE DIVISION 6 RLT will secure RAF St Mawgan in Cornwall.
8th Marine Regimental Landing Team, 2ND MARINE DIVISION 8 RLT has the mission of going up the Solent - heli-lift and assault craft - to take the military port at Marchwood opposite Southampton though also the harbour facilities at the Western Docks (on the edge of, rather than in the middle of) the city ahead of the arrival of ships laden with US Army forces.

This ORBAT is based on Episode 12 of Highschool of the Dead
Sino-Japanese War Part of World War III Date: April 15, 2010 - ongoing Location: Japan, Sea of Japan, Ryukyu Islands
The Sino-Japanese War is an ongoing limited conflict that arose when the U.S. and Russia fired their nuclear weapons on the People's Republic of China and North Korea. It occurred just three days after the Killer Pandemic engulfed the world and turned millions into living corpses that feast on flesh known as "Them." While it is never stated what was the cause of the Killer Pandemic, both the CIA and the FSB/SVR/GRU accused the PRC of developing the virus as a bioweapon and retaliated with nuclear weapons. The Chinese were caught off guard with most of their cities (already infested with "Them") and military bases going up in smoke. Nonetheless the Chinese managed to fire four DF-21D ballistic missiles towards U.S. bases in Japan and the Pacific.
The following ships were present in the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean that formed Japan's nuclear umbrella: - JS Kongō (DDG-173) - JS Kirishima (DDG-174) - USS Shiloh (CG-67) - USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG-54)
- USS Alabama (SSBN-731) - fired Trident II ICBMs towards the mainland
Of the four DF-21D ballistic missiles, three would be successfully shot down but unfortunately the fourth would never be intercepted because the crew of the USS Curtis Wilbur all turned into Them. Because of this, the missile exploded in the atmosphere thousands of miles away above Japan. It subsequently produced a high-altitude nuclear explosion (HANE) that blanketed the Tokyo Bay Area (which was already also crawling with "Them"), affecting the cities of Tokyo, Kawasaki, Yokosuka, Saitama, and Chiba. It appeared that the Chinese intended to knock-out the Japanese capital despite being abandoned by the Japanese government on the first day of the outbreak as well as the U.S. Navy base in Yokosuka. Parts of Japan were then without electricity, further hampering humanitarian response and JSDF combat abilities to fight the Infected.

No, no, no! We got rid of you in 1783 so we're not going to pay for the US defence bill no matter what Washington says.

Jokes aside, if these nationalist British really attacked the USAF bases in Britain, how long will it take? And what of the meager resistance the USAF airmen and MPs can offer?

Jokes aside, if these nationalist British really attacked the USAF bases in Britain, how long will it take? And what of the meager resistance the USAF airmen and MPs can offer? It depends who is attacking and when. In that 1985 scenario I sketched out, the threat foreseen was British Army units striking at USAF bases in Britain. The Shadow Wolf plan called for the US Army and US Marines to get in there first and stop that, though with the knowledge/hope that not all of the British Army would do as ordered. The opposition faced to the ones in East Anglia would be the 19th Infantry Brigade, possibly joined by the 24th Infantry Brigade. To the American bases in South-Central England, it would be the 1st Infantry and 5th Airborne Brigades, maybe joined by Royal Marines too. All of those were NATO-standard attackers with tanks and/or light armour too. Any defenders would be overwhelmed and the smart ones would offer a conditional ceasefire first seeing troops assembling. Otherwise they would be pinned down and outgunned. they wouldn't last long especially as a mortar shell or two will at once end flight ops. Other scenarios at other times differ. There is a novel about a war in 2006 - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_War:_2006 - which has RAF and USAF airbases in the UK hit by small groups of terrorists using civilian construction vehicles to crash in and then small arms. They are only partially successful and I think it is a good example. It was written in 1999 - ahead of the War on Terror - and showed how dedicated terrorists could hit military airbases. The Taliban showed it could be done - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_2012_raid_on_Camp_Bastion - and, IIRC, the Tamil Tigers did it in Sri Lanka too.

Something to consider in this scenario is US and British forces in Germany. There would be a lot of heavy forces there. Maybe the BAOR would declare neutrality or outright mutiny against the fascist/communist regime in London. If not, it's I British Corps v US V & VII Corps in central Germany while the Soviets die of laughter.

Both armies relied upon West German support for their rears but could duke it out alone. The US Army also had its 2nd Armored Division Forward Brigade in the Bremen area too. Plus other British overseas forces in Cyprus, Kenya, Belize, Brunei, Bermuda, Hong Kong, the Falklands, Diego Garcia, and Gibraltar. And West Berlin too!
