Indeed. As a matter of fact, I believe that G. Lucas actually modeled the Empire off of Nazi Germany for the Original Trilogy. The resemblance is, of course, easy to pick up upon it being pointed out. And the resistance would be, what the allies. Eh, I'd argue that the Rebels are more similar to the various insurgent groups that fought against occupying Axis forces during World War Two, i.e. the Polish Home Army or Italian partisans. That's more in line with how the Alliance is structured and the hit-and-run guerilla tactics it employs due to its comparative lack of numbers and resources, I would think.
For another miscellaneous Star Wars subject matter, how about an 'Anarcho-Capitalist Muunilinst'--which is the home world of the Muuns and pretty much the Wall Street of the Galaxy?

For what I imagine would be a much tamer scenario than if a whole Republic or Separatist fleet stumbled upon it, I wonder what would ensue if some Jedi—i.e. Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka Tano from during the Clone Wars—were sent to ~1979 Earth as ambassadors.
They would, of course, come across a certain science-fantasy movie with a suspicious resemblance to the setting that they come from, and may eventually discover that it actual does depict their galaxy a few decades into the future. Deducing precisely why it’s ruled by an evil empire, the Jedi are apparently gone, and the young Tatooinian moisture farmer that the film follows claims to be Anakin’s son, when Jedi falling in love and starting families is strictly verboten.

They will be far from home then if the Republic also exist here.

Maybe to make their job easier than if, say, their ship crashed and left them stranded, they have a few Venator-class Star Destroyers in orbit when they arrive. This would, of course, give the planetary authorities incentive to receive Jedi ambassadors like Obi Kenobi and Ani Skywalker well--even discounting their supernatural abilities and laser swords.

Even if the Republic is secretly controlled by a Sith Lord, it's still a nominally liberal-democratic entity that cherishes essentially the same rights and freedoms as are afforded in the Free World. That, and the Galaxy is hyper-capitalistic to the point of making Corporate America look like a Nordic social democracy--never mind alienating the USSR that's on the other side of the political spectrum completely.

Supreme Chancellor Palpatine), even if they're not answering to him for a while since they're lost in the Sol System and have yet to reestablish communication with galactic civilization--let alone make it back to Republic space.

Here's the latest in a long line of versus breakdowns by Jensaarai1. This, I think, is a rather exotic match-up.
Versus Series: Obi-Wan Kenobi Vs. Darth Talon

I wonder what’d happen if upon perishing at the hands of his treacherous apprentice, Darth Plagueis were to reawaken in Sheev Palpatine’s body—the morning after he’s nominated as Supreme Chancellor. He may have been hosed and outsmarted by Sidious once, but with him having taken over his body, it seems that Plagueis ultimately got the last laugh.

Here's another, two-week-old versus match-up created by EvanNova95, who by now is someone whose content I've shared here somewhat frequently.
Versus Series: Kyp Durron VS Darth Plagueis
