Have a Communist France after WW2, in a FGR/GDR situation.
I would say that the POD can be as early as 1939/1940.

Possibly as there was a lot of tension with the left wing government that held power for a short period and a lot of the right wing elements. Although more likely to lead to civil war which, given the distrust of most neighbours for communism and having fascist Germany as its eastern neighbour I would find it difficult to see the left winning. In terms of the OP I suppose the powerful communist party in France might have come to power after WWII. Possibly with the Free French having less success and say the US retreating back into isolationism. |

I believe they actually had a defense treaty before the war so Poland could well as for their help. |
