Some ships went that way, others were handed of to future allies in Africa. The US for example got twelve destroyers and three submarines from the Royal Navy to congratulate them for their victory. Yes i was thinking about that, i noticed that Africa of this universe did not look like it had suffered much of the Rush for Africa like Africa of OTL. The Rush for Africa did occur, it is just that after the collapse of the British and French empire the Dutch and VOC went around to set up stable countries in Africa instead of just letting the natives sort everything out themselves. This was more out of self-interest then it was out of the bottom of their heart because this way they set up vassels honoured allies willing to buy Dutch products, avoided the refugee floods and looked good on the international scene. African governments investing in infrastructure and industry would even cause an economic boom in the Commonwealths African colonies, With Abyssinia's GDP tripling in just two years.

That is a good explanation, better having friendly African countries than having to spend time and money in them if they where Dutch colony's.

Yes, but if an African president decided to step out of line With The Hague then his days were numbered. Just because his country is one of the United Provinces vassals honoured allies does not mean they get to do whatever they want. And unfortantly Charles Welter, who organised the Whole Thing, is barely remebered at home, despite how important it would go on to be for the war effort in the Middle East.

So might we see a United states of Africa then or is that to much for the Dutch Commonwealth.

There are some influental People who have suggested creating an African confedarcy but they tend to be shot Down. Such a country would have to much internal division and it would mean there would be a (le gasp) power capable of challenging Dutch global influence. The closest you are going to see to an united continent is the Noord Amerikaanse Handels Organisatie and its military counterpart NAVO and the European Economic Union.

Well, power of the European Economic Union is shared With Germany and Sweden-Russia but the purpose of NAVO is to "keep the Americans up, Canadians Down, the Dutch in and the Lousianians out." And considering the Dutch Control all of NAVO's nuclear arsenal and almost all of its Ability to Project power, keeping them in is very important.

Why the Canadians down, are they evil ore something. The qoute was from an American president and since the kingdom of Canada is the successor to the British Empire there would still be a lot of bad blood between the two countries.

Canada is just Canada they never had an overseas empire because Queen Elizabeth declared Independence from her previous one when it went communist.

So it is only the successor to the United Kingdom in name only. Like all successor states, they are what is left of the original country before it vanished in the sands of history.
