Since this site doesn't have one already, I figured I'd start the discussion! \^o^/
I've been a fan of Giant Monster movies for over twenty years now, when while fully swept up in the Dinosaur/Power Rangers craze of the early-to-mid 1990s I stumbled across the film Godzilla 1985. The movie ignited a deep love for the Godzilla series and Giant Monster movies overall that has sustained me for two full decades now. ^_^
I know the site's a bit small, but any other Godzilla or Giant Monster fans lurking about? What are your thoughts on the upcoming Godzilla: Resurgence and Kong: Skull Island?

‘Godzilla 2’ Delayed, ‘Godzilla vs. King Kong’ Dated, and More Warner Bros. Release Date Shuffling
I posted about this on Tumblr last night, so I figure I'll repost it here too. Part of me is disappointed, and part of me is relieved. The disappointment is obvious (THE WAIT IS SO LONG), but honestly this is absolutely for the best: Godzilla 2 was set to get CRUSHED if they went forward with the June 2018 release date and strangle the Godzilla-Kong Cinematic Universe in the crib. Not just because it was getting released the same weekend as Transformers 6, but honestly because 2018 (and Spring/Summer 2018 in particular) is so incredibly overcrowded that someone was going to end up suffocated and G2 was the safe bet for it. A week after Rogue One? A week before Toy Story 4, and two weeks before Jurassic World 2? Someone had to move. Even if Transformers moved, there was no guarantee we’d have that week at number one (not against Star Wars) and considering the recent history of these studios, my money was always on Warner Brothers blinking first. As the /Film article says, though, I think this shows WB is serious about trying to foster the GKCU into something profitable…just, a bit further down the road than we’d all hoped. We’re still getting Kong: Skull Island next year, which is doubling as Kong’s new introduction AND a prequel to G’14, which hopefully the marketing will get across clearly so instead of audiences seeing a 5-year gap between G’14 and G2 they instead see only the 3-year gap between G’14/K:SI and 2-year gap between K:SI/G2. March 2019, so far, looks good for Godzilla 2. Captain Marvel comes out March 8, giving a nice two week cushion between that and Godzilla 2, so there should be no issue with Godzilla taking the #1 spot the weekend of March 22 against that and Amusement Park (an original animated feature from Paramount Animation, hardly the biggest name in animated films). The only other competition is a thus-far untitled Disney film (another live action remake, probably) and Shazam in April. Godzilla has a chance to really flourish here. And May 2020 is far enough out that there’s really nothing to say about it yet. Going to keep watching like everyone else, of course, but so far I’m feeling good about this. I’m curious what this December 2018 movie is, but I doubt it has anything to do with Godzilla or Kong. And, personally, I think they can soften the blow even further if they go ahead with my little pet suggestion and add the Rampage movie (rumored for April 2018) to this Cinematic Universe too. Godzilla reference/cameo in Kong: Skull Island in 2017 and maybe a Godzilla cameo in Rampage in 2018 would do a lot to get audiences pumped up for Godzilla returning in 2019, I think!

At least we have a real life reboot of the Japanese Godzilla itself, this will keep us happy until 2018.

Godzilla 2 was originally supposed to come out in 2018, but they pushed it back nine months to avoid the deathrace 2018 is turning into. But, yeah, I agree! There's a LOT to look forward to between now and then: Godzilla: Resurgence, Kong: Skull Island, a possible new Gamera movie, Rampage, Jurassic World 2, Pacific Rim 2 is still in the cards, Dragon Wars 2, The Great Wall, Monsterpocalypse is in play again, Enormous, and I think they're still doing a remake of The Blob. (Oh, and the Power Rangers movie next year!) The Kaiju Renaissance is in full swing, despite the delay. ^_^

Oh yeah, I remember Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers VERY well! I think I was eight years old or so when it started, I was swept up in the PR craze like everybody else. ^_^ But, yeah, they're doing a big budget movie version of the first season, it's set to come out in March 2017: Power Rangers (2017)Honestly, the only person involved with this that I've heard of before is Elizabeth Banks, who's playing Rita Repulsa.

I've been a fan of the Godzilla pictures since the late 1960's. I remember watching Ghidrah the Three-Headed Monster on the Creature Feature on Channel 56 in Boston when I was tiny. Forty-five years later, and I still love to watch that picture!

'98 was an OK monster movie, but it wasn't "Godzilla" for me. '14 was better, but it didn't hav eneough Godzilla in it.

Godzilla (2014) is one of my all-time favorites, easily a Top 5 Godzilla movie for me. ^_^ Godzilla (1998) is...well, not the very bottom of my list but easily a Bottom 5 movie. >_> The script is a mess, the acting is terrible, the color/lighting choices abysmal, the music repetitive, and worst of all: it's boring. G'98 is a bad romantic comedy occasionally interrupted by a Giant Monster movie. Usually people like to complain about Godzilla's design and behavior, but really those are the smallest problems with the movie: far worse is that the leads have ZERO chemistry, our "hero" is the protagonist only because the screenwriters declared him to be so (the hero SHOULD have been Hank Azaria's character), the movie is trying so hard to ride Jurassic Park's coattails while simultaneously trying to (poorly) parody a Godzilla film that you can't help but shake your head. It has a pretty solid first 30 minutes or

I find Godzilla (1998) to dark for my tast, the fact that the majority of the movie was in the night is a offence for Godzilla who does not deserve that, the Godzilla (2014) movie is much better and also because there are two other monsters playing in it making it a movie where it is not only humans versus Godzilla but also Godzilla versus MUTOs.

G '54 is probably my all-time favorite. The most moving of the films. I got to see it on the big screen a few years ago. Well worth it if you get the chance.

Getting to see that on the big screen in a real theater in New York City was one of the BEST things EVER for me! I brought my sister and some friends with me, and while my sister already understands and appreciates it the movie really impressed my friends, none of whom really knew what they were in for. My now Brother-in-Law still talks about how impressed he was. ^_^ Actually, how many of us have seen any of these films in a theater? What have you seen? I've seen: Godzilla (1954), Mothra, Godzilla (1998), Godzilla 2000, King Kong (2005), Death Kappa, Cloverfield, Super 8, Pacific Rim, and Godzilla (2014). 1954 original trailer. It seems there are many full versions online, think i have to watch some of them. This one is fanmade, but I really like this trailer for the original movie:
