Not enough.

The problem with ISOTs, like this one, is that the culture, people, technology being moved to a more primitive time, in this specific example, the United Kingdom of 2020 to 1939, does not take into account how supply chain disruptionss and technological disconnects work to CRIPPLE the ISOTTED object and people.

The 2020 UK cannot even communicate with the 1939 Royal Navy except by commercial short wave radio MADE IN 2020 JAPAN, just as an example.

Mass starvation. Both are large cities by the standards of the time (not huge ones like Rome and Alexandria, but still significant cities) and they completely lack any kind of real agriculture. Particularly San Marino is in trouble because there just isn't much in the way of infrastructure connecting them to elsewhere which will make the first few months really harsh. Monaco has a better position because they actually have a port and ships (including sailing ones, which will be the most useful once fuel runs out). Neither is in any kind of position to replace anything because of their total lack of industry but they have enough to offer to the Romans to be kept. They can, if they remain coherent, certainly defend themselves. They both have police forces and armies with modern small arms. And those are more than capable of defending their countries.

What will also be interesting is when it happens. If it's around the yacht show for instance you get a whole bunch of interesting personalities thrown in. As in, even more than at other times. There will also be far more people coming along which meshes very well with the lack of large food supplies.

Germany from May 8th 1945 (without foreign troops) ISOT to May 8th 1934

Time-traveler assists 1800 Virginia Slave Rebellion with Cybernetics, Gene-Enhancements, Drones, Tanks, Machineguns, RPGs, etc. Obviously they succeed in freeing EVERY slave in the US!

He sets up a Secular Republic that allows Atheism, Seperate Church-n-State, Blasphemy, LGBT rights, etc. This Modern Republic assimilates every Native American tribe and liberates all of the Americas from Spain/Portugal!!!

The Atheist Republic assimilates Liberia and establishes schools/factories in Ethiopia before the Time-traveler is arrested and brought back to his own Timeline

This timeline has to be better than ours

Russia gets fucked even more in the Russo-Japanese War (which happens in 1900). They lose A LOT of territory to Japan. China is forced to invest all their resources into modernizing.

Russia is forced to become a Constitutional Monarchy and support China's modernization effort. Germany also supports China due to their fear of Japan trying to take their colonies in Asia.

The Major Powers, even the isolationist-ish US, are much less racist towards Asians and advance their technology to try and keep up with the suddenly advanced Japanese military

Japan arms anti-Imperialist groups/rebels to weaken its neighbors and Major Powers in preparation for WW1. The Dutch Empire is the primary target of these supply operations.

1904 the Japanese invade French Madagascar in support of the Native Rebellion. Madagascar becomes a Japanese protectorate. Japan uses the island to smuggle arms to Native rebels throughout Africa.

During the 1904 Yemeni rebellion Japan interferes but fails to make any gains due to the reformations and military tech upgrades of the Ottomans. The Turks do lose tens of thousands of soldiers compared to the few hundred Japan lost.

The French and German alliances try to outbid each other to bribe Japan to join their side. The Allied Powers win and Japan joins their side. Allies give up a few of their Asian colonies and sell their oil at a HUGE discount.

1914 WW1 starts. US starts out as part of the Allies under President Roosevelt, China too is part of the UK-led Allies. Japan easily takes over German colonies in Asia then attacks the Ottoman Empire with Russis and China. No Armenian Genocide as the war quickly ends in favor of the Allies.

The Great Depression doesn't occur this time around due to Japan warning the world back in 1900. The United Nations is formed. Technology progresses to 1950s level by the time of the 1920s. Invention of the Nuke leads to a Cold War between the former Allied Nations

Imperialism becomes very costly as Natives use Dirty Bombs against the Colonial Powers. The former colonies gain Independence. Civil Rights Movement starts in the 1920s. First man on the Moon and Elvis-like music during the Roaring 1920s.

Humanity builds its first space colony by the 1980s. By the 2020s, A few Billion people are Space Colonists. These non-Earthers are much more Liberal, Freethinking, Progressive and Secular.
