I would partially agree with the last point and to a degree the one before it.
Leopold was born in 1835 so I assume you are planning on kidnapping him as a baby. That was roughly the same time as the Texas revolution but that has nothing to do with the issue. Assuming your planning to kill the baby and introduce a cloned replacement?
Not sure that a stranger who appears when the baby is kidnapped and then suddenly 'rescues' him would be trusted that much given both the obvious idea he was responsible in the 1st case and the degree of variance from current values he will be displaying. Not to mention making massive changes to the economy and society is going to make enemies of assorted groups.
Slave owners might be willing to sell slaves if their provided with an alternative that maintains their wealth and power. They and most of the other whites at the time don't want freed blacks 'integrated into society'.
