Looks nice, would it be used for light attack ore training. Further research I read that the Hawker Hunter was indeed considered prior to obtaining the S211. In addition, I found the following other interest the AFP had at this period based on this post: - A-10 Thunderbolt
- A-7 Corsair
- Harpoons
- Redeyes
- Misc. missile carriers
- 105 mm Howitzers for the Army/Marine Corops

Still think the A-10s are overkill for the PAF.

Is there a cheaper version of the A-10 that isn't a complete overkill though? Although I could also say the PAF might benefit from more Hercules transport planes, especially during monsoon seasons when they need to ship in humanitarian goods too.

There are other cheaper alternatives to the A-10 such as the A-7 Corsair, A-4, and the Hawker Hunter. The PAF focusing on transport planes would be helpful in reaching far flung islands as you mentioned during humanitarian responses. Even helicopters such as the Chinook or the V-22 Osprey would be a big boost to these operations since some islands don't have airstrips big enough for the Hercules or C-295 to land in.

I think the Hawker Hunter might be an unusual choice for a light attack aircraft, though the service record is impressive, the last unit having been retired in 2014.

That's one hell of a fighter plane. How much does it take to maintain a single fighter plane like that?

It might be a good fit for the PAF. Considering the combat potential, it might also be a good thing to include surface to air missiles in the event of a major conflict involving the Philippines.
Although I wonder why is there no ASEAN equivalent to NORAD?

Although I wonder why is there no ASEAN equivalent to NORAD? The PSG has some Mistral missiles. I'm gonna have to research what SAM systems were offered or considered. I think ASEAN needs to be ever united to have an air defense network spanning the region. Countries have different leaning. For example, the Philippines is pro-U.S. while the rest are China leaning like Thailand (which is also a U.S. treaty ally), Cambodia, and Laos. Meanwhile, countries like Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore rather tend stay away from foreign affairs.

Ouch that's a hell of a lot of cash. Is that normal time or in combat action?

Probably in normal time. The last air-to-air battle for the Philippines was a long time ago. 70 years in fact. If this sees combat, the more it will be costly. During the Battle of Marawi in 2017, it was estimated that the PAF actually ran out of bombs and had to procure emergency munitions from the US. Back then in 2012, the US delivered smart bombs to the PAF. These were probably the same used five years later.

Yikes, and the fact that the PAF ran out of emergency munitions during the Battle of Marawi means something when you realize that the PAF was badly neglected over the decades.

Just to clarify is that flying hours or simply hours per day? If the latter I'm doubtful that any nation could afford such a cost, although could be wrong.
