We will see what Quiboloy would be like in the upcoming update, but let’s say that it would be a surprise.

Chapter Fifty-Three: Never Provoke a Wounded Bear
AL-QAEDA ALIGNED TERRORISTS SET OFF CAR BOMB IN KOSTANAY, RUSSIAN INTELLIGENCE CONFIRMS OFFICIAL DEATH RATE OF 35 CIVILIANS Moscow Times July 30, 1996
(Kostanay, PRITOBOLYE AUTONOMOUS KRAI) – Russian security officials confirmed today that Al-Qaeda linked terrorists have set off a car bomb, just outside a shopping mall in the Pritobolye Autonomous Krai’s city of Kostanay. The attack had occurred during the peak shopping hours, around 5 PM, local time. Kostanay’s mayor Galina Khovanskaya had ordered the city’s municipal police force to cooperate with Interior Ministry authorities as they investigate how the bombing had occurred. At the same time, Russian President Gennady Burbulis had issued a general mobilization order for all active regiments within Rosgvardiya, as fears of additional terrorist attacks are being circulated. Moreover, there were also reports of possible Al-Qaeda infiltration in the North Caucasus region, aided and abetted by various radicalized locals who returned from their activities in the former Soviet Central Asian region.
“We urge all civilians to cooperate with the authorities, and to assist them in tracking down the criminals who carried out this attack,” announces Khovanskaya, who also allowed the newly rebranded FSB to deputize any municipal police department, should they have the need to do so. “Keep in mind that the former Free States of Pritobolye, Priirtyshye, and Priuralye are under the authority of the FSB and the Russian Armed Forces, due to a potential reconquest by the Kazakh government.”
The existence of the three Free States, carved out of Northern and Western Kazakhstan during the Second Russian Civil War, were mainly populated by Kazakhstan’s Russian minorities. After July of 1995’s Operation: Batyr, when all ethnic Russians, Ukrainians, and Belarusians were forcibly expelled from the former Central Asian republics of the Soviet Union after that civil war ended in the victory for the National Redemption Army under the command of Alexander Lebed, the Slavic refugees were resettled in those Free States, where they were heavily assisted by the local community there. The Slavic refugees from Central Asia were pivotal in the reconstruction efforts of those Free States, while other refugees were sent to Russia proper. However, the Koryo-Saram minority of Central Asia had fled from their adopted homelands only two weeks after Operation: Batyr, mainly because they were sent there because of Joseph Stalin’s 1937 order, which deported the Koreans living in the Russian Far East to Central Asia, due to them being a security risk. (Korea at the time, was a colony of Japan, which made Koreans practically Japanese subjects) In addition, former Soviet Kyrgyz general Boris Yugai had emerged as an influential figure in post-civil war Russia, where he campaigned on behalf of the Koryo-saram community to convince President Burbulis to let them return to their original homes in the Russian Far East. Many Koryo-saram had joined Rosgvardiya after the civil war, though they faced minor discrimination from the more, ethnically conscious Russians within Rosgvardiya.
“Most of us Koryo-saram are loyal to the Russian state, and the deportation order by Stalin had destroyed the lives of our grandparents and great-grandparents. By allowing us to return to our original settlements in the Russian Far East, we would contribute to the economic revival of that region,” comments Yugai, who also decided to relocate to the Russian Far East and was appointed by President Burbulis as commander of the Far Eastern Military District, after his predecessor Viktor Chechevatov was reassigned as commander of the Siberian Military District. “If needed, we will prepare for any potential conflict with Russia’s enemies.”

GAMSAKHURDIA ANNOUNCES TERM LIMITS FOR PRESIDENCY, GEORGIAN MONARCHIST FACTION SEEKS SUPPORT FROM FORMER PRINCE The Sun October 27, 1996
(Tbilisi, GEORGIAN FEDERAL REPUBLIC) – Georgia’s President Zviad Gamsakhurdia has announced that after 2000, any future Georgian President will only serve a five year, two-term limit. Since Gamsakhurdia is on his second term as President of Georgia, he is constitutionally barred from seeking a third term. Since the announcement, the Georgian President has started to look for potential successors as official party leader of the Republican Party of Georgia. As the Georgian Federal Republic is looking forward to the post-Gamsakhurdia future, a newly created monarchist party has been founded to challenge the domination of the ruling Republican Party, the Monarchist Front for Georgia. Led by Spanish-born Prince David Bagration-Mukhrani, who returned to his native Georgia after the Second Russian Civil War ended in 1995, the former Georgian Prince had started to promote the idea of a monarchist restoration, as a way of reuniting Georgians of all political leanings. Although the current ruling party is open to the idea of a dialogue with the former Georgian Prince, they made it clear that they would not be interested in allowing Prince David to regain his family’s lost throne. Yet, supporters of the former Georgian Prince came from the powerful Georgian Orthodox Church, which saw him as a useful ally against the growing liberalization of the country.
“The rebirth of our nation is not complete without its King, and I for one, would prefer that Georgia be led by an anointed King once again,” Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of the Georgian Orthodox Church says during sermon. “Georgia as a nation, still has a lot to answer for, since the greatest mass murderer of the 20th century, had unfortunately, been one of us. We need to go to the town of Gori and erect on top of the house where that mass murderer was born, a new church.”
Patriarch Ilia II had of course, referred to Georgian-born Soviet dictator Josef Stalin, who was still considered a folk hero among the residents of Gori. However, anti-Soviet Georgian nationalists had developed an unusual admiration for the notorious Soviet dictator, based on his ethnicity. Still, Georgian nationalists and their detractors alike agreed that a new Georgia would require a massive cathartic ritual to cleanse itself of its past sins. In addition, the Georgian Catholicos-Patriarch had also condemned the murder of the late Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Alexy II, during Al-Qaeda’s airplane bombing that killed him, along with many innocent civilians. The ascension of Patriarch Diomid as the new Russian Orthodox Church’s leader was welcomed by most of the Orthodox Churches, including that of the Georgian Orthodox Church. Moreover, Ilia II was eager to help re-establish the spiritual connections between the two Orthodox states, although controversy still surrounds his decision to promote closer ties to Russia, given that it was the Tsarist Empire that annexed the former Georgian Kingdoms of Kartli-Kakheti, and Imereti.

BURBULIS GOVERNMENT SIGNS DEAL WITH DEFENSE MINISTER LEBED, ESTABLISHING THE FOREIGN AUXILIARY VOLUNTEER GUARDS Moscow Times November 22, 1996
(Moscow) – An agreement made between President Gennady Burbulis and Defense Minister Alexander Lebed was signed today, authorizing the creation of the Foreign Auxiliary Volunteer Guards. The new unit would be open to both returning prikhodniks, or Russians returning from their overseas residence, and Boers that have resettled in Russia from South Africa. The requirement for enlistment within the FAVG however, is strict, regarding previous affiliations. If a recruit was found to have been a member of a known criminal gang in their overseas residence or is indicted for war crimes and crimes against humanity, that recruit is not only barred from continuing with his enlistment process but is blacklisted from serving in any branches of the Russian military. The initiative to create such a unit comes at a time when the reformed Russian Armed Forces, which became the successor to both the Red Army and its second civil war rival unit, the National Redemption Army, is facing issues, ranging from a decrease in enlistment, to lack of funds needed to stay afloat. To prevent the same problems that plagued the other armies of the Soviet successor states, Defense Minister Lebed launched an ambitious military reform that focuses on the training system of the new Russian soldier, instead of relying on strength in numbers. In addition, he has also decided to decrease the number of active military personnel to just 1.9 million troops, and reserve personnel to 2.4 million. Most of the demobilized soldiers would be allowed to join the Russian National Guard, or Rosgvardiya.
“The days of throwing conscripts into enemy guns is over, as evident by our performance against the Soviet loyalist forces during the civil war,” declares General Lebed, during a meeting between President Burbulis and the Russian military leadership. “There is more quality in a better trained soldier than there is more quantity in the number of soldiers we have under arms. Although the United States is no longer our enemy, we are not naïve to think that they would welcome us with open arms. We must be prepared for any future war, at any given time.”
Much of the Russian military’s planned projects have been severely scaled back, with the cancellation of several construction projects for its naval and air assets, in favor of modifications. In addition, the tank graveyard located in Kharkov, Ukraine, is at the center of a negotiation between Russia and the Union State of Ukraine and Belarus. At the head of the negotiations on the Ukrainian side is the Union State’s Defense Minister Anatoly Kostenko, who offered half of the number of tanks sitting in the tank graveyard to Russia, in exchange for two thirds of the ships under the command of the former Soviet Black Sea Fleet. Meanwhile, the military projects planned by the Union State of Ukraine and Belarus have also been cancelled for the same reasons as the Russians did, though modernization of their armed forces have been placed on hold, mainly because of Union State President Mykola Azarov's preparations for the planned reunification with Russia, from a position of strength.
"While we will eventually come back to the military modernization program that our government will implement, it is necessary for us to focus our efforts on the blueprint for a potential reunification with Russia. This means that we need to place our offers to the Russian government as a pretext for reunification," Azarov explains in front of government officials during a meeting in the city of Chernobyl. "Moreover, we are thinking of establishing our own National Guard, on the model of Rosgvardiya, for the purpose of helping to maintain order in our country."

"God has used China as an instrument in which the Tadiar regime is justly punished! Artemio Tadiar and his gang of thugs have led the Philippines into an era far worse than Ferdinand Marcos's dictatorship, and on top of that, untold number of human lives have been lost, all in the name of fighting communism! What has the Tiamzon couple done to incur Tadiar's wrath? Not only has God ordained China as a divine instrument in which the Philippines should be punished for its sins, but it has infliced additional suffering upon the Tadiar regime for its continued alliance with the Papists in Rome! My brothers and sisters! Have we reached a moment where the cries of innocent victims can no longer be ignored, as the Philippines is suffering from a self-inflicted injury that Tadiar has imposed on our nation? The time for passive resistance begins, but we shall do it in a non-violent manner. Unfortunately, there will be the so-called 'Christians' who are going to align themselves with Tadiar, all because they are misled and misinformed. Are we going to let Tadiar drown the Philippines with the blood of murdered innocents? If you choose to say no to these things, then the time to resist is now. Let us reach out to the revolutionaries who have been fighting the forces of inequality and oppression, before the fascist jackboot breaks our skulls to the ground!" Apollo Quiboloy, from the August 18, 1996 sermon on the increasing persecution of left-wing activists.

APOLLO QUIBOLOY PLACED UNDER ARREST FOR SEDITION, PROTESTANT CHURCHES THROUGHOUT PHILIPPINES HOLDS ANTI-REGIME RALLY AS CATHOLIC COUNTER-DEMONSTRATORS PREPARE FOR CONFRONTATION Edmonton Journal September 23, 1996
(Davao City, PHILIPPINES) - An obscure Protestant preacher named Apollo Quiboloy was placed under arrest by Davao City Municipal Police, on charges of sedition and possibly treason. An undercover NISA agent had infiltrated a mass held by the Kingdom of Jesus Christ Pentecostal Church, to detect any potential subversives. When Quiboloy had begun his sermon, the undercover agent remained calm, and only acted after the mass was over, did NISA agents, cooperating with the Davao City Municipal Police, have made the arrest. Many parishioners within the KJCPC had protested at the NISA agents' presence inside the church, but Davao City Police authorities responded by deploying riot control personnel, and begun to use tear gas to forcibly expel the parishioners out of the church.
"We have the right to gather here in our church, under the constitution. Or what's left of the constitution that Tadiar hasn't destroyed yet!" One KJC parishioner shouted as he was led away by riot control personnel, before an explosion rocked the church. "Pastor Quiboloy is right when he says that we as a nation have to be punished for our sins, and the amount of sins that the Philippines has is enormous!"
Protestant churches throughout the Philippines are planning a religious freedom rally around the country, to highlight the growing anti-Protestant sentiment arising in the country, as the Tadiar regime has started to make alliances with notorious ultraconservative Catholic factions, like Opus Dei, and the notoriously anti-Semitic Society of Saint Pius X. In addition, the Philippines has also attracted other factions that have opposed the changes that were brought into the Roman Catholic Church as a result of Vatican II, with the military dictatorship even contemplating on reorganizing the Catholic Church in the Philippines into an independent religious body, although the term 'autocephaly' is normally associated with the Eastern Orthodox Churches. Therefore, it is widely speculated that the Tadiar regime is planning on forming an independent Catholic Church that breaks their communion with the Papacy in Rome, and encouraged by sedevacantists who have acquired influence in the country, the Tadiar regime will give more power to the extremists who have taken power in the Philippines.
"For three hundred and thirty years, the Philippines was ruled by the tyranny of the convent. Now, Artemio Tadiar is bringing back the tyranny of the friars into the country, and the first target he sees is the Protestant churches that have been established in this country," comments Eddie Villanueva, founder of the Jesus is Lord Church, who have fled into political exile, and resides in Vancouver, British Columbia. "Is he trying to create a secular state, or a theocratic dictatorship?"

PRESIDENT AZAROV ANNOUNCES THE CREATION OF THE GREATER URAL REPUBLIC, ACKNOWLEDGES THE PRESIDENCY OF EDUARD ROSSEL Kyiv Times March 14, 2003
(Isetgrad, PUGACHEVO OBLAST) - President Mykola Azarov today, has approved the creation of another autonomous republic within the Russian Federation, as the Greater Ural Republic becomes the 24th autonomous republic, after the former Union State of Ukraine and Belarus have been admitted three years prior to the formation of the Greater Ural Republic, though with a special status placed on the member states of the former Union State. The Greater Ural Republic is a special pet project of various Russian monarchists, led by Anton Bakov, who saw the Greater Ural Republic as a stepping stone to the creation of a microstate that will be inhabited by the former Russian royal family, who have returned to Russia for the first time since the Bolshevik Revolution in 2000, the same year that the Union State of Ukraine and Belarus have reunited with Russia, on their terms.
"The Greater Ural Republic is a new autonomous state with a promising future, and we are encouraging developers to come into our republic and help develop it," announces Ural Republic President Rossel. "In addition, the Greater Ural Republic would become a new home for many of Russia's recent immigrants who have arrived on our Motherland, as well as repatriates coming home from abroad."
Eduard Rossel was a former Minister for Resettlement and Immigration under the Burbulis administration, and during his tenure as Minister in that department, he oversaw the resettlement of many Boers fleeing from South Africa after the civil war there had resulted in their defeat and expulsion. Although other Boer refugees have arrived in Australia and the United States, the untamed frontier of Russia, plus its arable lands, have attracted the desperate Boer refugees, who are eager to help develop its agricultural capabilities after the Second Russian Civil War had devastated its food supplies, mainly by bombing from both sides' air force. Moreover, former soldiers who served in the South African Defense Force have made up 46% of the recruits in the new Foreign Auxiliary Volunteer Guards, with prikhodniks, or repatriated Russians, being the other other 54%. Many Boers who have resettled inside Russia have already become wealthy farm owners, whose produce have become popular with Russian customers. Noted South African refugee turned milk producer Mathias Mulder is one of the successful Boer entrepreneurs.
"I think that the Ural Republic is a great opportunity for my business to expand," comments Mulder, whose dairy farm has now become a cooperative. "Our milk is popular, even in Ukraine, Belarus, and the Caucasus. However, we are awaiting a chance to export some of our milk to places in Asia, like Japan, South Korea, and even Mongolia. Our new goat milk will definitely impress our Mongolian customers there."

Pretty much, and Quiboloy in this case might become a martyr if the Tadiar regime executed him, so most likely he would just stay in one of the camps.

I'm curious too if Philippine Army General Jovito Palparan would appear in this timeline. He could be one of Tadiar's most loyal generals since in OTL, he ordered harsh campaigns against the NPA.

In a sense, he has already made a minor appearance, but he could play a bigger role in the late stages of the Tadiar dictatorship. Think of him as TTL’s version of Suheil al-Hassan, who would be a rival to Faeldon, Aromin and Doromal.

In a sense, they will, although how they will play a role would be interesting to see. The Philippine Constabulary ITTL has pretty much been turned into a paramilitary, but I will need to cover this in greater detail. They have been reformed into the Territorial Defense Guard, which is TTL’s successor to the PC, but the PNP would be a strictly civilian-controlled force.

Excerpts from "Baseball's Renaissance: How the Death of the MLB Paved the Way for the NAPB" by: Sportsnet Pacific Released on October 10, 2015
"Ironically, Bud Selig's stubborn attitude towards the baseball players had damaged their relationship with the MLB authorities, which had contributed to the eventual demise of Major League Baseball, as the players' strikes had resulted in increased viewership for the NFL and the NHL. Some of the teams had refused to return to the field, even if the deal was reached with the MLB authorities, and even US President at that time, Jesse Jackson, was powerless in his dealings with the MLB authorities. It was at this time that Bob DuPuy had emerged as an advocate for the massive reformation of professional baseball, from the unpopular salary cap (in which the players had been told that the salary cap was necessary, to avoid reckless overspending on players who might have underperformed during any season), to the greater emphasis on overhauling the league system itself. In addition, the expansion of professional baseball teams had grounded to a halt, but DuPuy had an ally in Donald Dehr, who was well aware of the impact on North America's baseball market if the MLB was not reinstated. At the same time, several other cities had ambitions to host a professional baseball team, most notably Vancouver, British Columbia, and even Phoenix, Arizona, as well. The result of such ambitions resulted in the establishment of the North American Professional Baseball, which was officially established on January 20, 1997, the same day that Jack Kemp was sworn in as the next President of the United States.
Unlike Major League Baseball, the new North American Professional Baseball had been organized on the recommendations of several baseball team owners, with the salary caps installed to prevent overpayment of players, and both Jerry Reinsdorf and Bud Selig had played a minor role in its development, but neither men were voted in as permanent Commissioners, lest they face the wrath of the baseball players that they developed a contemptuous attitude towards. Bob DuPuy, surprisingly enough, did not take the role as Commissioner for the NAPB. Rather, it went to Jack McKeon, who was known for being the general manager of the 1989 World Series Champions, the San Diego Padres. McKeon had looked at the proposals for the league system that the new NAPB had, and he realized that if the new NAPB were to capture the larger American market in areas where there's no baseball presence, he might be able to generate enough popularity for the sport. He was also aware of a larger potential in the Canadian baseball market, having witnessed two of its teams win a World Series. Thus, by the beginning of 1999, the NAPB would start with 28 teams, and the first expansion teams would not be approved until 2006, when both the American and National Leagues would receive two teams each, and a few baseball teams were relocated. Moreover, the growth of the baseball market in Canada came at the expense of the Canadian Football League, which ran into financial problems in 2001, with several teams filing for bakruptcy. Interleague play was also instituted, as well as wildcard playoffs and an expanded set of exhibition matches that would take place within North America, Asia, and Australia. The following teams are as follows:
AMERICAN LEAGUE:
AL East: Toronto Blue Jays New York Yankees Boston Red Sox Montreal Expos
AL North: Cleveland Indians Detroit Tigers Minnesota Twins Omaha White Sox (formerly the Chicago White Sox, relocated in 2004)
AL South: Houston Astros Texas Rangers Kansas City Royals Orlando Rays (expansion team, began operations in 2006)
AL West: Oakland Athletics Seattle Mariners Portland Gladiators (expansion team, began operations in 2006) Anaheim Angels (formerly the LA Angels)
NATIONAL LEAGUE:
NL East: Atlanta Braves Philadelphia Phillies Washington Ironclads (expansion team, began operations in 2006) Baltimore Orioles
NL North: Milwaukee Brewers St. Louis Cardinals Chicago Cubs Pittsburgh Pirates
NL South: Florida Marlins Cincinnati Reds Austin Armadillos (formerly the New York Mets, relocated in 2004) Colorado Rockies
NL West: San Francisco Giants Los Angeles Dodgers San Diego Padres Vancouver Cedars (expansion team, began operations in 2006)
Much of the expansion phase had run into trouble, with difficulties of potential locations for newly proposed stadiums being scouted. For Portland, Providence Park was used as a temporary location, until Columbia River Field was built in 2012, which eventually became a new baseball stadium for the Portland Gladiators, which claimed the legacy of its 1896 predecessor. Austin had a much easier time building a new stadium, but the biggest challenge for the NAPB was Vancouver's location for a new stadium. During the Vancouver Cedars' early years, they played in BC Place, which used to house the former CFL's BC Lions, before the NFL would award its first two Canadian franchises in the Toronto Redcoats, and the Vancouver Ramparts in 2010, with the latter moving into BC Place after the new baseball stadium, Hastings Field, was completed in 2013. Unlike the old MLB, the NAPB had attracted attention from various minor leagues within North America, and has even reached out to traditional baseball powerhouses in Venezuela, Cuba, the Korean Federal Republic, Japan, Taiwan, and China. Although the Philippines is not a traditional baseball power, several players have been drafted into the NAPB that were originally born in the Philippines have chosen to represent their adopted homelands, with notable Outfielder Harold Ramsey (the son of CIA Director John Bennett Ramsay) being the most prominent of them all. Just last year, the NAPB had approached the Russian International Baseball with an offer to help bolster its struggling national baseball team, with several American business tycoons, most notably social media mogul twins, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, have expressed interest in building the first baseball stadium in the city of Vladivostok." ---
FLAMES OF WAR VIDEO GAME A HUGE HIT, DESPITE CONTROVERSY SURROUNDING PLOT AND LOCATION Gamezone September 22, 2013
The new Flames of War game, a popular tactical, first shooter game, has made huge sales margins and has become popular with fans and players alike. Just days after it was first released, over 76,000 copies have been sold worldwide. Yet, despite the popularity, Flames of War is not without its controversies. The company that produced the game, Yugoslavia's Morava Entertainment, had nearly faced bankruptcy over failed sales of previous games, but it has managed to save itself from permanent closure with the sales of Flames of War. Even more so, the plotline of Flames of War is reminiscent of both the Filipino and Second Russian Civil Wars, and the game is set in the fictional nation of Chernarus. Originally, the developers had wanted to base the fictional Chernarus state in Eastern Europe, but after having taken a tour of the Philippines back in 2010 (while scouting the place for a different game that would use the Philippines as a background), they decided to base the Chernarus landscape on the sceneries taken while the developers were in the Philippines. Flames of War however, is banned in Poland, mainly because of the depiction of the Roman Catholic militias as genocidal villains. It is also banned in China, because of its heavy references to Chinese dynasties and its primarily anti-communist rhetoric (the fictional Emperor of the Shun Dynasty references both Bo Xilai and the last Qing Emperor, Puyi), while Mexico's post-Chaparro government had recommended a ban on the game, because of the usage of the name 'Cristeros' as the name of the fictional terrorist group.
Flames of War's single player campaign takes place in an alternate world where the a different colonization of the Philippines had taken place. The Point of Divergence begins when Rajah Salalila had kept his animist beliefs, choosing to relocate his kingdom from Maynila to the lowlands near Cagayan Valley, and named it the Rajahnate of Casiguran, with the aforementioned Kasiguranin language being spoken by the inhabitants there. From there, he and his descendants would slowly build the tiny Rajahnate in the north, expanding to encompass most of what is basically the Casiguran Prefecture, plus bits of southern Cagayan Valley Prefecture. Although there are several more Points of Divergence in this video game, the ultimate result was that the Chernarus state has essentially become a part of a different, alternate Russian Empire that focused its attention more eastwards, instead of westwards. In addition, the Chernarusian language developed for this game was created with the help of Serbian, Bulgarian, and Russian linguists, as well as some assistance from Turkic language experts. The protagonist of the game, Lieutenant Dragomir Radosavlyev, is tasked with eliminating the Cristero cells that have been hidden throughout Chernarus. In addition, he takes part in the major campaigns of the anti-Cristero war, most notably the fictional Battle of Sugbugrad (based on the Battle of Chernobyl from the Second Russian Civil War), as well as the Malosevansk Offensive (based on the earlier offensives launched by the pro-Marcos faction in the Filipino Civil War).

Since sports looks different here, I wonder how to would the gaming industry be like. A bit different for sure, and you’d have unexpected nations that would develop their own video games. Also, the plot line for TTL’s version of Arma 2 is basically a hint of what my biggest TL reboot would be like (yes, the Chernarus state depicted in the OMAKE is the same one from my earlier deviantart drawings), since the days of “Ivangorod Prosperous”, both versions.

Call of Duty and Medal of Honor may look like the same as OTL for the WWII segments but anything crossing into modern day would look really different. I could imagine Modern Warfare takes place in Central Asia while Black Ops will have a Tadiar chapter just like how Manuel Noriega appeared in Black Ops II.

I was wondering where the "Canadian Football League" mentioned as declining was based on football or American football but it seems to have been largely a Rugby Union sport.
