Top to bottom clockwise: Type 051 destroyer Kaifeng (109) in the West Philippine Sea; Refugees from the Chinese bombing line up for relief goods in Nueva Ecija; Philippine Marines set up defenses in a beach in La Union for a possible Chinese amphibious assault; Fires rage in Metro Manila in the aftermath of a Chinese bombing, a Xian H-6K bomber takes off from PLAAF air base in southern China; Remaining Philippine Air Force F-5s scramble to intercept Chinese bombers above Luzon.

On the removal of sanctions on the Philippines, i.e.
I'm pretty certain that isn't possible. You can't veto a veto in the UN. That would kind of defeat its entire purpose.
A bit surprised that sanctions are being removed anyway given Tadiar is still running a totalitarian regime with widespread murders and use of slavery. I could see some relaxation on humanitarian grounds given the crisis after the Chinese attacks but would expect anything other than say food and medical supplies to still be greatly restricted. True the US is pretty much a rogue state by this time but O could see a lot of countries still opposed to anything which supports such a brutal dictatorship.
Steve
I’m unsure as to how a veto could be overruled in this case. Given China’s motivation for keeping up with the arms embargo, they wouldn’t have any good motives at all. Yes, the sanctions are still in place, but have eased up due to humanitarian reasons. The reason why it is lifted is because of the planned elections for 2016, which is announced in TTL’s 2006. Also, Russia would also be acting like a Rogue state with their heavy handed response to Al-Qaeda’s airport bombings as we will see soon.
I don't think a veto can be overruled.
Sounds like all three great powers are going down very dark roads.

Yeah, and the terms like “Russian aggression” and “Russia is the new Nazi Germany” will be featured ITTL a hell lot earlier. Curiously enough, the ECA provides a surprising ray of hope in this case, though given OTL EU’s enthusiasm for centralization, this world is about to become extremely dark.
I will have to retcon the whole veto thing.

I wonder what has happened to Eddie Villanueva ITTL. If he was not purged by the government, was he still an avowed and dogged communist insurgent, or was he reformed into a Christian like or more radically than his OTL self?

Speaking of pastors and religions though, we all know that INC is being persecuted, but what about Eli Soriano and the Church of God International?

Well of the four great blocs the ECA is the least bad option, possibly by quite a long way. Plus possibly the early and full merger with the EFTA might moderate the more extreme centralist ideas, as could the addition of the eastern European states as OTL.
Also it has links with Russia so might be able to help that getting too dark. Given the sort of problems that groups like IS and Al Quada pose and the response they generated from their opponents intervention in those Central Asia states where they are causing mayhem/gaining influence is quite logical. The issue might be if it descends into something like ethnic cleansing.

Good to see Onoda-san open a carabao ranch in the Philippines. That way, people would see it as amends on his 30 year insurgency of war that no longer existed.
Speaking of cults, what would become of Quiboloy? Will he still make outlandish statements such as being the appointed son of God or stoping an earthquake?

MCGI and even Jesus is Lord would face competition from the presence of the Moonies (Unification Church of Sun Myung Moon) and David Koresh’s Branch Davidiana, although Tadiar would have to lessen the Protestant hate-boner sooner. I might have a different fate set in mind for the guy who founded Falun Gong.

As for Quiboloy, I would say that he would be discredited a lot sooner, with the 1990 earthquake being a breaking point, which I will cover in a future update.

There are still gonna be a lot of earthquakes and typhoons occurring as per OTL. He could choose one if not all to take credit for "stopping" it using his "heavenly" powers.

And Quiboloy would probably dance the hemp fandango sooner.

True, but given the OTL scandals that surrounded Quiboloy’s church, look to see a possible scandal that might literally sink the church to the ground.

Funny enough, Quiboloy could claim he used his "divine powers" to stop the Chinese bombings of the Philippines. As long as he has a platform, he would still say outrageous things in this timeline just like how North Korea claimed they placed a man on the sun.
