Most likely, although it would be more of a somber affair, with Tadiar having broken diplomatic ties with the Vatican, and it took Loren Legarda of TTL to restore it. 5 years left to go in 2021 for TTL so I could see relations with the Vatican being restored just right in time for the 500 years of Christianity. Pretty much, although the Vatican might not be happy if they found out that Tadiar is recruiting Opus Dei members and other ultra conservative Catholic priests who are willing to do his bidding. Perhaps recreate the Aglipayan Church into an actual Independent Catholic Church that Tadiar himself can control, with Opus Dei members as the clergy there. He can justify that by mentioning the Catholic related conspiracy theories like Sedevacantism and how the rest of the Popes after Pius XII are members of a secret society. |

That would be true, if the Philippine military is being well supplied. Thanks to the arms embargo, China might not have this problem, but then again, the Corsairs will become very busy when Chinese troops will try to invade. Even Indonesia would definitely get involved, and expect an official American military aid to Indonesia to materialize. Don't forget that Indonesia might also have the East Timorese insurgency on their hands as well, so maybe Subianto would just give the East Timorese autonomy, similar to the Bangsamoro acquiring autonomy in Mindanao. What we might see here in the future is several years of political instability that could potentially create a violent power vacuum that could result in the possible collapse of communism in Vietnam. Odds are that they could have moved out of the Philippines before the Chinese bombardment, mainly because the economic sanctions would have made it impossible for your parents to keep up with their tuition payments due to a lack of work. Me? My family probably fled to America already... Some of my relatives ITTL would have been among the dead victims of the Chinese bombing, but my parents were still working overseas when Tadiar came to power. Odds are that they could have already fled to the Anglophone countries like the US, Canada or Australia, unless they (Saudi authorities) made it harder for my parents to move directly, in which they could have moved to Europe for a bit before settling in the Anglophone countries eventually. Most likely Britain, Ireland, Croatia or Yugoslavia, or even Russia (as Saudi Arabia IOTL and ITTL doesn’t have an embassy in those Balkan states and both Croatia and Yugoslavia would not have embassies in Riyadh) |

Gosiengfiao was born in 1988 and Kim Chu in 1990. Meanwhile, most of the celebrities I mentioned are 90s kids so the butterflies would prevent them from existing as we know it. It could be "Michael Martinez" (i.e same name, same genetic features) but it's not the Michael or our timeline. I could see your family most settling in California or Hawaii in this scenario, but they would have to deal with the ethnic tensions that is bubbling between Filipinos and Chinese in the US. If they changed their minds. My mom would have moved to Michigan while my dad would have went into hiding in northern Cebu. They only married in 1990 so if my mother moved out, I'm butterflied away. |
