I am a time traveler contacting the new millennium from the 22nd Century. Ask me about the future, anything, and I will answer. Just avoid Kashmir and 2020 and we’ll be fine.

So what about Kashmir is what we do not want to ask about. The subject of the Indo-Pakistani War of 2053, which resulted in a nuclear holocaust over the Indian subcontinent.

To further elaborate, Tibet sold the Tibetian-held claim to Kashmir to Pakistan. India, however, saw this as a crime against her nation. India launched nuclear weapons, then Pakistan, and the nuclear ashes covered the Indian Subcontinent and Ocean for the rest of 2053, all of 2054, and most of 2055. This was widely condemned, especially in the Republic of China, Persia, and the Pacific Union, which mostly starved. America mostly filled the gap in food, but it caused a global depression that lasted into 2061. However, it lead to the rise of the East African Federation, Nigeria, and the DR Congo as major world players.

Very much so. It's only really rivaled by 2020, still 20 years away from you guys, but still, it is going to suck pretty bad. A global health crisis, widespread unrest, a massive earthquake on the entirety of the Pacific Rim, and it was an election year. I'm not going into anymore detail on 2020 though. Widely, 2001, 2020, and 2053 where considered the worst years in the 21st Century, while the 2040s and 2050s (excluding 2053) where considered the best. I say the other parts of the 2050s where good because of the political situation in the United States and abroad. 2066 was a decently good year for the U.S. and the 1,000th anniversary of the Norman Conquest in Europe, celebrated widely in both the United Kingdom and European Federation. Technology advanced in spurts, the 2000s and 2010s seeing quick growth, the 2020s and early 2030s seeing slow growth, and the mid-2030s up to the 2070s quickly advancing (due to a super politician-inventor), before slowing down in the 2080s and 2090s. Lunar and Marta* Colonization started in the 2040s, and today the European Federation, United States, United Kingdom, Republic of China, and New Zealand lead the way in colonization, although Brazil, Canada, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates are starting to get into the Space Colonization game. Intelligent life was found in 2074, but this was by means of a telespace wave that showed the planet where this life was from ultimately being destroyed. Sorry if that was kind of long, but talking about the best and worst years is kind of nice, having lived through most of them. Life expectancy has gotten longer up to about 210 years, for those curious.

I bloody well hope that isn't the case, else there's something desperately wrong in the UK. Why would we celebrate the conquest of England, followed by attacks on other parts of Britain by a bunch of vicious barbarians who slaughtered wholesale and enslaved the survivors.

The celebration was mostly in Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as by academics across the nation. It passed mostly without incident for everyone else. It was a major historical marker for the nation. Since you seem interested in the UK, it is one of only five European nations to not federalize, which was the source of mass discontent in the 1970s.

You asked us to avoid Kashmir; however, I note that you did not ask us to avoid the Arab-Israeli Conflict. Has that been resolved?

You asked us to avoid Kashmir; however, I note that you did not ask us to avoid the Arab-Israeli Conflict. Has that been resolved? It starts to be resolved in the 2020s, with a UAE-Israel peace deal, and then it slowly was resolved by 2033, when Israel and the Palestine State recognized each other and peace was made. The Iranian Civil War of 2027 had been helpful, and the Arab League announced they supported Israel in 2028 now that the leading voice in opposition (iran) was gone. Kashmir killed far more people then the Arab-Israeli conflict, and 2020 also killed more people then the Arab-Israeli Conflict, especially in Asia.

I'm English/British so definitely an important point to me.
Possibly can see it having some popularity in N Ireland as the Protestant population there, although largely from Scotland may not have been established with the Norman conquests. Some Scots might be celebrating but they would be bloody stupid as it replaced Anglo-Saxon England with the far more aggressive Norman state which made numerous attempts to conquer Scotland. Similarly while Wales like Scotland has uneasy relations with England it was only in Norman times that conquest of the principality occurred. [Not saying, especially considering they were both unpleasant neighbours, that there wouldn't have been conflict and possibly even English conquest of either both its far less likely than after the Normans with their desire for loot and conquest took over.
For England the Normans were an unmitigated disaster that put the country back in its development by probably a couple of centuries at least as well as seeing massive deaths and suffering. It would be rather like native Americans in the US celebrating their conquest by white colonists.
Do you mean unrest in 2070 as 1970 is way after 2000?

That's what I thought but you dated it as 1970.

Oh. Yes, my apologies. The UK, Switzerland, Norway, and Poland are the only countries in Europe who don’t federalize. This being said, starting in 2012, Russia begins the process of annexing Ukraine and Belarus, so they aren’t part of the EF. Iceland stays out too, but they aren’t really thought of as Europe anymore. So, anything else you 2000ers want to know? US annexation of Cuba? Second Chinese Civil War? The time an inventor was elected president on a third party? The situation in Asia? Anything?

Well another Chinese civil war sounds very messy. Even without use of WMDs its likely to be very bad with the fatalities in the millions if not more.
