I take it that the colonists survived and did surprisingly well for themselves, then. But not at the cost of Britain still reaching preeminent status without them, it seems. Indeed they did. That would also go on the be the first country to put people on the moon and to develop a nuclear weapon, the colonists. ...Wow. You already mentioned man-made flight becoming readily available to humanity at large, but sending men to another world is something else entirely. What drove this enterprise in the first place, exactly? I'm deeply curious as to the science and engineering that went into it, but that'd lead us down a whole different rabbit hole.
Secondly, what is a "nuclear weapon"? It sounds pretty significant, judging by what you've written.

So, the thing propelling the sending persons to the moon begins in the 1950s, when the Cold War between the US and USSR was ramping up. President Dwight D. Eisenhower created NASA, which lead the enterprise along with the military. The US lagged behind in the "Space War" with the USSR, but ultimately won by putting two men on the moon in 1969. A nuclear weapon is a bomb which could destroy a massive area and get nearby people seriously sick

Though, I do hope that any violence that might've occurred in light of this "Space War" was minimal.

And by global, I assume that most everyone across the world has access to it somehow? Digital refers to something using the internet, an invisible global connections system that can only be accessed by certain devices.

Does this mean its a system limited to the ruling aristocracy and their supporters? That would explain why its restricted to some devices as you refer to them and it being invisible because its kept a secret from most people?
Digital would suggest either use of fingers or some aspect of factors of ten?
