(You know, to my 1789 character, that would just sound like any other empire... and I don't expect the anti-Semitism would be particularly shocking to many non-Jewish people from 1789 !) So, what of the Ottoman Empire? Do they still exist in your world?

So, what of the Ottoman Empire? Do they still exist in your world? They were dissolved in 1920 after the First World War, becoming the Republic of Turkey.

Interesting stuff. Now for another question:
We've just started harnessing steam power, and it looks like it could change the world one day. Does it?

Interesting stuff. Now for another question: We've just started harnessing steam power, and it looks like it could change the world one day. Does it? Boats circumnavigate the globe with it. Engines begin to automate tasks. In 1901, the first heavier-then-air flight is made with humans. It changes the world in more ways then you could imagine or I could say.

That sounds weird. How does their book differ from traditional Christianity?

That sounds weird. How does their book differ from traditional Christianity? For one, it takes place in the Americas. For two, although it is mostly Christian in nature, some labeled Mormonism (its name) as a cult.

So, how many followers does it have, and how influential is it?

So, how many followers does it have, and how influential is it? Currently, about 16 million. It’s influence ranges, as there are members across the world, but it’s influence is mostly confined in the South Pacific Island and in the inter mountain West. However they are still influential across the US, the GOP nominee for president before the current president was a member of this faith. I think a total of 10 Senators are a member of this faith as well. Additionally, they have break off groups which are interesting.

I take it's some sort of political faction that arises between now and 2020?

Although...I'm not sure if "conservative" in the sense you use it is the same as "conservative" as we in 1789 understand it (considering how new ideas have been arising left, right, and center lately).

Well, they are the party that opposes Abortion, generally is more in favor of religious groups, supports responsible fiscal policy, tough immigration policy, and most importantly, is the opposite of progressivism.

Hmph; that clarifies things. I suppose there’s a party(s) that stands for precisely the opposite of all that, then? Moreover, what became of the British Empire? Entropy seeps in and brings even the greatest powers eventually, but I’d hope that Britain has a while left before its might invariably wanes.
