1944 Battle of Kansas - episode - 327
Well I'll forgive him the slip up about Stalingrad still being an ongoing battle in 1944! The video does rather overstate the importance of the B-29 in the Pacific as Japan was pretty much dead without it. It was however as said a huge project, more expensive than the atomic bomb development and could easily have ended up going no-where.

That assumes that the same mistakes are made as OTL, on both sides, that resources committed to the B-29 aren't used elsewhere and that Japan will last that long while under dire social pressure.

1. There very few mistakes in Plan Orange. It worked exactly as advertised. 2. The resources and technology of a light metals industry (aviation) were hardly divertable to other wartime uses. 3. Japan's population suffered direly from deprivation throughout the Russo Japanese War and won. Economic dislocation alone did not work. (See Harris comment next. M.). It had to be structural, in the physical sense as well as the financial. No shelter had to be added to no work and no food and no heat to bring about the desired weather effects. Bombing was the only way to do this. And no, that is not a validation of de-Housing of the Rurhr as practiced by Mad Bomber Harris. Lemay made sure the cities were razed NATIONALLY and the navy made sure the fuel and food was gone for heat and sustenance as well.
