I referred to US Carriers for their deployment. The outbreak began in May 7, 2004 and I could not find the exact location for the JFK and Kitty Hawk. However it does imply they were at sea from April 25, 2004 to mid-May 2004 hence why I decided their survival is possible and highly likely.

My research was a bit interesting. I read some ship were in the middle of the Pacific and the Atlantic at the time of the outbreak. For example, the USS Connecticut (SSN-22) was transiting the Atlantic Ocean on the way to the Middle East via the Mediterranean while the USS Wasp amphibious strike group was in the Middle East. The USS Ramage, USS Ross (DDG 71) and USS Elrod (FFG 55) was in the Atlantic participate in regional exercises with allies, make diplomatic port calls and respond to any contingency including those associated with the ongoing war on terrorism. Meanwhile, USS McCampbell (DDG 85), USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43), USS Salvor (ARS 52) and USCGC Mellon (WHEC 717) were having exercises in the West Pacific.

Well then for those US navy ships in the Middle East, then Diego Garcia is a perfect remote place for any ship in the region to go to.

I read it takes an eight hour flight from Singapore for civilian contractors. Plus, it's very deeply isolated in the Indian Ocean. Diego Garcia would probably be the best place like Hawaii or American Samoa to hold out.

Only problem is resupplying them, especially if merchant, cruise ships ore other civilian ships start arriving there as well.

Tons of refugee ships would make their way to those islands. There's also the problem of underwater zombies but thankfully unlike WWZ, they don't attack animals and animals will feast on them either. So those underwater zombies would be attacked by sharks and crabs.

Some more interesting facts I discovered: The Avenger-class mine countermeasure ships USS Scout (MCM-8) and the USS Pioneer (MCM-9) were stationed in Naval Station Ingelside, Texas. Since these are small ships, they could have hauled ass from their port right before the zombies overran the base.
Interestingly, the USS Gladiator (MCM-11) was visiting Corpus Cristi on a three-day port visit starting May 7, 2004, the day of the outbreak. Could have also escaped on time if the crew were not caught within the outbreak.

That's a dilemma. Not all the crew after all are from Texas. They'd be forced with that prospect.

Here is the Special Features vignette known as "We Interrupt This Program" which contains an in-universe news broadcast.
Here are the following maps of the outbreak within the continental United States, May 7-8, 2004: Hour 3 (May 7, 2004): Infections reported in Arizona, Indiana, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, and Ohio. Looks like San Antonio got hit 49ersfootball . I guess you would have been called to report to the nearest Air Base for duty to restore order.
Hour 10 (May 8, 2004): Infection reported at Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Hour 15 (May 8, 2004): Infections reported at Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Maine, Montana, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, and Utah.
Hour 17 (May 8, 2004): Infection reported at the District of Colombia. Delaware and Rhode Island still reports no infection. No information on Alaska and Hawaii though it can be assumed those states do not have infection as well.
Hour 19 (May 8, 2004): Delaware and Rhode Island still free of infection.
Hour 20 (May 8, 2004): Still no infections at Delaware and Rhode Island. Major cities are hotbeds of cases.
Hour 26 (May 9, 2004): Delaware and Rhode Island finally succumb to the virus. They were the last two states to report no infection for 26 hours. The entire continental United States has fallen to the virus. Only Alaska and Hawaii plus some territories remain infection free.
