Hale 3:01 PM PST, June 30th, 1966 Sherman Oaks, CA
Soon after the 9th Season of "Perry Mason" ended, Barbara Hale assumed her days as Della Street would be over, but once Gail Patrick Jackson confirmed the popular TV Show was renewed for a 10th Season coming up in the 1966-67 season, Hale wanted to speak with Jackson & the production staff on her contract situation regarding Season 10. While Jackson confirmed to Hale that the character Della Street would be coming back, Hale strongly insisted that her character, Della would remain somewhere between 12-16 episodes due to getting another opportunity working for Gordon Industries, etc., Jackson agreed to Hale's insistent alternative. Jackson also mentioned that Mary Ann Mobley, whose character would be replacing Connie Cezon's Gertie as the receptionist, eventually Mobley would be moved up to series regular once Hale moves onto other opportunities.

Hopper 9:28 AM PST, July 1st, 1966 San Diego, CA
William DeWolf Hopper, Jr., was born on January 26th, 1915 in NYC, NY St as the only child of actor, singer, comedian & theatrical producer DeWolf Hopper (March 30th, 1858-September 23rd, 1935) & his fifth wife, actress Hedda Hopper (born Elda Furry; May 2nd, 1885-February 1st, 1966). He had one half-brother, John A. Hopper, from his father's second marriage in the 1880s. Hopper made his film debut as a baby in his father's 1916 silent movie "Sunshine Dad". His mother divorced his father in 1922 & moved to Hollywood with their son. Hedda Hopper became one of America's best-known gossip columnists with nearly 30 million readers in newspapers in the US.
Hopper began his acting career as a teenager. He made his first stage appearance at the Pasadena Community Playhouse, in "She Loves Me Not." He worked in summer stock in Ogunquit, ME. He appeared in Broadway in the short-lived comedy "Order Please" (1934) & as a member of the ensemble in Katherine Cornell's production of "Romeo & Juliet" (1934-35).
In March 1936, Hopper---then working under the name Wolfe Hopper---won a contract at Paramount Pictures. Early in his film career, Hopper appeared in numerous movies, uncredited & also under the name DeWolf Hopper. In 1936, he played a small role as a soldier in the Columbia Pictures film "The King Steps Out" starring Grace Moore & Franchot Tone. In 1937, he portrayed the leading man in two films, "Public Wedding" with Jane Wyman & "Over the Goal" with June Travis. He also enjoyed significant roles alongside Ann Sheridan in "The Footloose Heiress" (1937) & "Mystery House" (1938).
After that, he had roles that included playing a sergeant in the John Ford Western, "Stagecoach" (1939); an intern in "The Return of Dr. X" (1939); a college football player in "Over the Goal" (1939); & reporters in "Knute Rockne, All American" (1940), "The Maltese Falcon" (1941) & "Yankee Doodle Dandy" (1942). Hopper became an actor because his mother expected it of him. "When I worked at Warner Bros.," Hopper said, "I was so scared I stuttered all the time."
Hopper served in the United States Navy during World War II, as a volunteer with the Office of Strategic Services & as a member of the newly-created Underwater Demolition Team. He received a Bronze Star & several other medals during operations in the Pacific. For eight years after the war, Hopper became involved in business & sold cars in Hollywood. He combined car sales & acting when opportunities came up during the advent of television. "I didn't even think about acting much until a friend, director Bill Wellman, asked me to do a part in "The High & the Mighty," Hopper recalled.
During this period, Hopper was married to actress Jane Kies, whose professional name was Jane Gilbert; she was the sister of Margaret Lindsay. They had worked together in the 1939 film, "Invisible Stripes". They had one daughter, Joan born in 1947. The couple divorced in 1959 after 19 years of marriage & later that same year, he married Jeanette Juanita Ward.
