  Very interesting and shows how even with all the experience and planning things still went badly wrong on the day with the airborne operation.  Odd seeing the Mohawk haircuts on some of the US forces.   Never heard of the pathfinders for paras before but it makes sense.

  Very interesting and I suspect we will never know the answer for sure.  Didn't realise that Boris had taken such a stand against the persecution of Jews.  Understand why for political reasons Britain didn't want more Jews reaching Palestine, because of the probable Arab reaction but pity some alternative route couldn't be found.  Also in terms of possibly getting Bulgaria to switch sides although it would have been impossible without the US supporting such a move and very difficult even with that before Boris's death.

  I'm doubtful of the idea of Italy being behind the assassination as their got more chance to switch Bulgaria over with Boris in charge plus since he was the Italian king's brother in law it seems an unlikely move.  Even more than the Germans they wouldn't necessarily have a better link with Bulgaria after Boris's death.

  Sounds like the most likely issue was a probable natural heart problem but at this distance in time it's impossible to tell.  Interesting possible link with Metaxas's sudden death.
