Think it is more about the name slave which can be associated with dated and racist stereotypes than what you say Zyobot . Well, I’d still think that executor and tyrant should be considered similarly bad, if we’re to play this game of changing labels. Both are easy to associate with authoritarianism and dictatorships, which have been responsible for plenty of misery and millions of innocent deaths on their own. Does that mean, then, that the ships named after these should also be renamed? |

Also if we speak about it, what about the name Stormtroopers, it also can be classified as offensives if we go this route. Given that they were named after a Nazi paramilitary organization from the Weimar Republic days, yes. As is the fact that the Empire is modeled after the Third Reich, with Palpatine being the deliberately Hitler-esque greater-scope villain of the franchise. Although, isn’t it the point that these terms are somewhat “offensive”? They’re being associated with villainous factions, and the Empire’s inclination to proudly display words like Tyrant and Stalker highlights that their evil status. Given that they’re meant to be the worst of the worst within that universe, I’d think that having negative words and historical references attributed to the Empire as much as possible makes sense. |
