Me again. Sorry about this but in the WWI thread you have
You have already mentioned this in more detail two paragraphs above this, which is actually under the eastern front heading. May I suggest moving that down to replace the bit above but including the tonnage information. Shows how small subs were at this point and the discrepancy with the size of his previous victim. Steve
Will edit it. lordroel , On the US Navy thread today may I suggest a couple of points. a) That the Sandwich Islands are what are now called Hawaii. [Many of us probably know this but it may not be clear to all]. b) With the comment about Farragut and the torpedoes what were then called torpedoes are what are now known as static mines. The modern torpedo, i.e. something which moves under its own power towards a target wasn't invented until 1866, see Whitehead_torpedo for more details. Their both issues of clarity rather than pure facts but do think it would be useful to add those details please. Steve
Normally i do not change the post in the This Day In United States Naval History thread unless it is grammar related as i trust that those who made it at Naval History and Heritage Command website know what they typ, but i think i can edit in that Sandwich Islands are what are now called Hawaii as i doubt many people know that,

lordroel , There's a couple of oddities in today's USN post.
A part of the date missing here. Checking on wiki I found Naval_Weapons_Station_Yorktown, which refers to the establishment of the base but doesn't give a date. Probably 1917/18 as its mentioned as being for the planned North Sea mine barrage which wasn't relevant until after the US entered WWI in April 1917.
This seems to be simply out of order as its preceding a couple of entries from the 1940's.
Suspect the problems were in the original but mentioning it so your aware.

Interesting that Soviet raid on Berlin. Also that its sent from a force that is already isolated from the rest of the Union by the German advance.
I have the feeling you have insulted the people of Hull here. Its a significant east coast port in that part of the country so I think that e should be a u.
Seems odd that he takes his wife on such a flight in a prototype a/c as well as being bad for her.

My apologies to the people of Hull, will edit it right away. Also about the Bruno Mussolini crash, it seems the troll in charge was a bit to dramatic and only Bruno Mussolini died, not his wife who was not named Rachele (the name of his mother not his wife) but she was named Gina, she died in 1946 after mysteriously drowning in a lake. Will edit it and force the troll who made this post to watch Italian war movies without subtitles.

Sorry for that, the trolls seems to copy and past from various sources and do not check it before releasing it, will have a Covid-19 approved team meeting with them to resolve this.

lordroel ,
On the USN thread it says
Might actually have had this before but only just noticed their referring to ships with the term HMS. This is wrong as that only applies to RN ships and the USN definitely wasn't seizing them. Merchants flying under the British flag and operating as blockade runners yes but not RN ships. The only time they came close was with the Trent which was actually a RMS [Royal Mail Steamer] and that nearly ended up as war until the union backed down over their actions. Those ships above might be termed SS for steam ship although that term might not be in use yet.

Think you are right, seems the US navy made another mistake.

lordroel , On today's WWII thread you have:
It doesn't say how many Yer-2 bombers were planned to take part in the mission. There is a reference to an original 17 but not sure whether that's what were planned or what managed to take off as neither quite fits.

Think it it is 3 Yer-2 medium bombers that took part in this raid.

Three took part in the raid but it said 'only' three took off which suggests to me others failed to. Unless that was a comment on how rash it was to use such relatively small a/c possibly. It also says that 14 Pe-8's took off but one of those exploded in take off, which would make it 16 in the actual raid. However suspect your correct and its 17 tried to go, one Pe-8 failing fatally on take off and the rest is possibly some vague wording somehow.

lordroel , On today's WWI post, admittedly we have the advantage of hindsight but one wonders what Joffre was thinking. Foch's plan is to inflict small but significant defeats and it would actually work in pushing them back, albeit very slowly.
On the WWII Post I think you have a mistake at the end.
Assume this should be Chinese lose or Japanese shoot down?

On the WWII post I think there's a typo in the paragraph:
Suspect the 1st sentence should be saying that Attlee makes sure the terms of the document is broadcast?
On the WWI thread I would disagree with the idea that Gallipoli was a bad idea. It was badly performed in several cases including the landings mentioned yesterday but it gave a good chance of knocking Turkey out of the war which would have had massive impacts. Especially prior to Bulgaria joining the CP and Serbia being overrun. Likely to end the war at least a year earlier and quite possibly mean the Bolshevik coup and Russian civil war is avoided. Both of which would have huge impact on the post-war world.
