I think there's a discrepancy in today's WWII post. You have:
Interesting terminology. Britain was reluctant to declare war on Finland, due to sympathy for it after the Winter war and only did so in ~November IIRC under strong pressure from the Soviets.

Think there's a small typo in the WWI post today.
Suspect that should be the XX Reserve Corp? Amazing given all the losses their suffered how hard the Russians are still fighting. Although the Germans and Austrians have also suffered losses and probably a lot of the men are tired by now. Also interesting that given the literally hundreds of divisions in the German army Falkenhayn is meeting with the CoS to agree the movement of a single division from west to east.
Which makes me think, what is happening in the Caucasus front? Since Enva Pasha destroyed his own army in that suicidal winter offensive and Ottoman troops are busy fighting in Gallipoi and murdering the Armenians are the Russians doing more here? I know at one stage they overran a good chunk of NE Anatolia but that might be in 1916.
In the WWII thread I see Stalin is earning his Reich-marks.
There's an old board game I used to play which had a quote from Hitler saying that the war would be decided by who made the most mistakes. We get reminded that he wasn't the sole competitor for the position. At least Stalin had the sense to realise he needed Zhukov and his other military experts even if he doesn't take their advice.

On today's WWII post
Assuming Top Lake is Lake Topozero?
That mess in N Norway/Finland isn't the 1st time British authorities didn't allow for the high latitude. We lost a lot of subs in 1940 because they were committed to watching for a possible invasion from Norway and suffered from the short nights which meant they didn't have time to surface and recharge batteries in the relative safety of darkness.
Which was basically a mistake given the time available although they didn't know that at the time. It was almost impossible to actually defend without a hell of a lot of forces and supplies being in place before war breaks out as the USN can't afford to try supplying it in wartime without a high risk of a serious disaster.

lordroel , Watching the video its interesting how early Germany started seeking to undermine Russia by sending revolutionaries back. The move against the republic after the 1917 revolution is well known but never realised they were at it so early.

One small quibble with today's WWII post. You have:
I.e. there's not a clear heading so the entries for today's Atlantic battle seems to come under the heading of the Battle of the Baltic Sea.

OK thanks. I was starting to wonder whether I was going round the twist - or possibly developing some sort of psychic powers so I could read future events.

Well this is a war happening in real time so you might just have a Déjà vu regarding the war already have happened many, many and many years ago.

lordroel , On the US Navy thread today may I suggest a couple of points. a) That the Sandwich Islands are what are now called Hawaii. [Many of us probably know this but it may not be clear to all]. b) With the comment about Farragut and the torpedoes what were then called torpedoes are what are now known as static mines. The modern torpedo, i.e. something which moves under its own power towards a target wasn't invented until 1866, see Whitehead_torpedo for more details.
Their both issues of clarity rather than pure facts but do think it would be useful to add those details please.

Some comments on today's WWII thread.
a) BC may think 5% losses acceptable but that shows how bloody foolish the idiots in charge were. Especially considering the minimal actual damage inflicted. At this stage we were probably losing more trained aircrew than we were killing total numbers of Germans, largely civilian.
b) Darlan is being disingenuous here.
France allowed an occupation from Japan because it could do nothing really to oppose it. That's true. The fighting in Syria and Lebanon only occurred because the Vichy forces there aided German attempts to send military aid to the rebellion in Iraq.
c) With this bit
I don't think such a road would go through Tibet which is some way to the west. The Burma road is already in existence. Couldn't find Seita on wiki so not sure what the planned route for this road would be.

Me again. Sorry about this but in the WWI thread you have
You have already mentioned this in more detail two paragraphs above this, which is actually under the eastern front heading. May I suggest moving that down to replace the bit above but including the tonnage information. Shows how small subs were at this point and the discrepancy with the size of his previous victim.
