Fun but it does seem so odd seeing Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill looking so damned young. Plus the look of shock/fear on Alex Guinness's face when Luke asked how his father died. There's more where those come from, it seems.

That'd me my first assumption, as well. It's interesting how, at least in this one instance, Palpatine tends to sound more menacing in certain foreign languages than in English (Star Wars being an American production and all). Which actually reminds me of the German version of Sheev's takeover speech (which, coincidentally, has been met with various Hitler references in the comments section, as well).
