Well...for one thing, with him getting regular work as Capt. Pike means he won't be taking other roles in TV or movies. His career after passing on shooting a 2nd. pilot for Star Trek steadily went downhill which led to a divorce and him winding up broke and getting very little work. If he stays in Star trek and if Star Trek goes for a 5 year run, Hunter probably won't be cast in for a role in "Cry, Chicago" where he was seriously injured in an on-set stunt gone horribly wrong. The injury is believed to be responsible for an intracranial hemorrhage. He fell, knocked over a planter, and struck his head on a banister, fracturing his skull. He was found unconscious by his wife and taken to Valley Presbyterian Hospital where he underwent brain surgery. He died at about 9:30 the following morning at the age of 42.

So would we see a different original cast alongside captain Pike ore would the 5 year run be based on the pilot he recorded.

Producers were not too happy about majel barnet playing number one. They tell Roddemberry that he was allowed the alien member of the crew or the female first officer, the two together were to unbelievable

They tell Roddemberry that he was allowed the alien member of the crew or the female first officer, the two together were to unbelievable I do remember the comments on the difference between the pilot, when the female members wore trousers and the series when their uniform was a mini-dress. It sounds like the decision on her being relegated to being a nurse - not even a doctor - was more sexism than any comment on her acting abilities. Insect's idea of a TL with Jeff Hunter rather than William Shatner sounds interesting although it will seem odd. I wonder if it will include how Hunter plays the role and what differences that might make to the franchise.

Yep, basically the powers that be found more credible the presence of an alien than a woman being a first officer
