As I said, a poisoned chalice. Your suggestion of a hidden merchant ship full of Japanese troops might work, but it only will work if the Japanese have the element of surprise because i doubt one single merchant ship full of hundreds of troops can defend it self against a single Royal Navy cruiser patrolling the Falklands islands.

Argentina was earning billions of pounds (not inflation adjusted) from trade with the British during World War II. Why would it risk that by going to war over the Falkland Islands?
