What if French King Philip II (a.k.a. Philip Augustus) would have died in 1185?
Would there have been a succession crisis in France in this scenario? If so, who exactly would have become the new French King or Queen in this scenario?
Any thoughts on this?

Also, for the record, in 1185, French King Philip II had no children yet. Also, Philip II had no male siblings. In turn, in my honest opinion, this would have made a succession crisis in France very likely after Philip Augustus's early death in this scenario.

Well the obvious initial factor is he's not going to make things difficult for Henry II and his successors. Which could mean the Angevin empire survives longer. THis could have a hell of an impact, especially if there's prolonged division and uncertainty in France. Similarly this would likely mean that the re-emergence of an English identity is likely to be delayed, possibly significantly. We might continue longer with a French speaking and orientated ruling class.
In the wider world a weak and divided France could mean more success for say the HRE in Germany and Italy. Or a period of division and delay which prompts the rise of a new and powerful dynasty in France, which could even be the Plantagents, and France is stronger earlier. Could go in just about any direct depending on circumstances.
