Well I must admit I've only really played Russia, as the easiest of the great powers for a new player. [Only one front to bother about and largely ignore the navy. Also since everybody hates you diplomacy is pretty simple. However as a micro-manager I tend to be very slow playing. Started a game as Germany a couple of years back then RL intervenes and since then its gone from v1.08 to v1.10 and getting used to playing it again and adjusting to the changes, playing Russia again. Some time I might even catch up with them. Interesting. I see how it reflects historical reality. A lot more than many games, although there are still a lot of oddities.

A lot more than many games, although there are still a lot of oddities. Like what? I'm curious. Well for instance, which some events are hard-coded others are variable depending on circumstances. Also, if I understand it correctly, all production of raw materials and industrial output [in a continuous land mass] is considered to be produced/located at the capital. Which means isolating it can cause serious problems. Also you need to supply each separate area individually. For instance Britain can't send supplies to India and from there supply say Ceylon, Malaya, Borneo etc. Which greatly complicates matters in terms of convoy routes. Furthermore there is a series handicap on production from such isolated areas. I.e. I think Britain only gets 10% of the manpower of India it would get if it was a continuous territory. A number of other oddities like that. Steve

Some more information about Battlefield 1. Appearantly the losing team can call in a zeppelin to try and tip the odds back in their favour.
