For those who do not want to see the Participated flag anymore should do the following.
Go to your profile, then to edit profile, then to notifications, then click on the things you want to remove under the forum, there should be one that says participated, click on and you will not receive anything anymore.

Lordroel
Thanks, especially if that's in response to my query on the other thread. However I'm not sure if what you mention is what I actually want.
What your done seems to apply to all participated threads and I'm not sure if, say you selected for a day, whether it means you lose the flag attachment to that thread after a day or if you don't access it for a day?
What I'm after is to say for thread X I no longer want to receive notification when that thread is updated. But still get it for other threads. This may not be possible but just wondering.
Thanks again
Steve

Have found a solution i think to your problem, if you have thread you want not to follow, go to participate, then next to thread click on it and then go to actions and you can select how long you do not want to follow it, be aware it only work if there are new post in the thread.

You can also go to select, then mark everything as new then click on which tread you do not want to follow and go to action, there you see mark as read and then click on it.
