PS: I hope this is in the right location. MapI am creating a completely fictional world using OTL Earth's map. As you can probably guess already, most of the names and such will be completely made up. If a fictional name or word happens to correspond to a word used by any languages in OTL it is merely a coincidence. Also, while most of these will be completely fictional words, some may be rearranged from existing words in OTL. That will not be common, though. I'm going to post some information regarding the calendar, dates, etc. The Internation Calender, otherwise known as the Common Calendar, is divided into 11 months. Ten of those months are called normal, consisting of 35 days each. The eleventh month is only 15 days. Every 20 years an extra five days are added to the eleventh month, known as long years. Weeks are 5 days long. Although the months and seasons are named, the says are not. For the purpose of this thread, the Common Year is 1785. Technologically the world will be no more than 10 years ahead of our own. Here are the names of each month in order; Thain Rien Otsu Calei Orne Sarae Smit Dien Sefem Fain Orma - Short Month The Seasons; Ere(Spring) Thain 1st Sau(Summer) Otsu 23rd Lae(Autumn) Sarae 11th Ase(Winter) Sefem 9th

BriefHistory:
Aramel was founded by settlers over 2000 years ago. They fought wars against other City-States in Central Valea for centuries. They were one of the few who trained both men and women to fight in wars, which many think led to the practice of children being raised by the government instead of a family.
The First Kingdom was established after Aramel managed to unite the surrounding city-states under its control. King Yaro the First was selected by the people to rule over the Kingdom.
The Kingdom prospered during the 5th and 6th Centuries CA, becoming a major power in Valea. Their main only rival was the powerful Norian Empire to the south, with whom they fought countless wars with.
The First Kingdom was destroyed when the Firan Empire swept through Valea in the late 7th Century. Aramel itself was sacked, and the Royal Family slaughtered, on the Twelfth of Otsu, 689 CA.
More than 90 years after the Sack of Aramel the Firan Empire fell into civil war after their leader, Yasur VII, died without an heir. A rebel faction in Aramel formed during this time, with Zira and Kael as their primary leaders. Under their leadership, the people of Aramel managed to push the Firans out of their homeland by 803. Kael died in battle, but Zira went on to establish the Second Kingdom. She was selected as queen in 804.
Warfare between the Second Kingdom of Aramel and the Firans continued for centuries. By the 12th Century, the Kingdom of Aramel had pushed the Acatars out of Valea, and extending their own borders to the Valetar Mountains. Conflicts would continue until the 18th Century.
The Aramel Council was established under King Yaro the Eleventh in 1147 CA.
In the 16th and 17th Centuries, Aramel led the way in the Industrial Revolution. However, unlike the other powers in Valea and Acatar, the Aramel Kingdom did not establish any overseas colonies. Instead, they focused more on consolidating their power on the Valean Continent.
In 1690, the Great War started the Aramalians chose to remain neutral. Although they were neutral, they did not sit back. The Aramel Military military went from 500,000 soldiers to 18 million by 1702.
On the Seventh of Orma, 1705 the Firan Empire joined the Dacian Pact. Eight days later they launch an invasion of Eastern Aramel, bringing them into the Great War. Aramel joined the Norian Alliance three days later.
The addition of Aramel into the Alliance turned the tides along the Western Front. Within a year, the Norian Peninsula was liberated, and Aramel Forces were entrenched in Eastern Dacia. On The Seventeenth of Orne, 1710 riots broke out in the Empire. Two days later the Dacian Empire imploded into civil war, ending their involvement in the Great War.
The War in the East was a different story. The Firan Empire pushed into East Aramel, reaching the Aloqi Border by 1709. After the Dacians fell into civil war the Alliance was able to push the Firan Empire out of Valea by 1713, but the war came to a stalemate. The Valetar Mountains saw the highest death toll in the war, with 16 million dead on both sides.
In 1714 Aramelian Scientists invented a weapon that would change the war, and history: The Fission Bomb. Rather than use the new weapon immediately, the Aramel Military opted to wait until they had more bombs.
On the Fifteenth of Sefem, 1718 the Aramel Military dropped the first nuclear weapon on the Firan City of Chamir. The 25-kiloton bomb killed 125,000 people and destroyed 95% of the city.
The use of nuclear weapons, although devastating, brought the war to an end within six months. A total of 51 nuclear weapons were used against the Firan Empire, killing 3.4 million people. On the Seventh of Calei, 1719 the war ended two days after the Aramel Kingdom dropped three 50-kiloton bombs on the City of Fir.
After the Great War, the Aramel Kingdom carved up the Firan Empire into several smaller nations. The Western Portion of what was once Firan would continue to host Aramel military bases until the present day.
In Valea things took a different turn. The failure of the Aramel Kingdom to push into Dacia after the Civil War broke would allow the newly formed People's Union of Dacia to once again become a threat to the world. Noria, which was devastated by the Great War, became increasingly totalitarian in the decades following. In 1731, Noria acquired nuclear weapons, Dacia joined the nuclear club in 1736.
In 1721, the Aramel Kingdom invented first Fusion Weapons. As tensions between the three Valean Powers increased in the 1730s an arms race ignited into a three-way cold war.
Although not the first into Space, Aramel was the first nation to land humans on the Moon in 1741, and on Vaneras in 1762. In 1766, Aramel established their first Moon Base.
Culture/Laws/Other Facts
The Council passed the Aramel Charter of Rights in 1647. This document prevents any level of government from passing laws infringing on certain rights of Aramel citizens.
All forms of expression(speech, religion, press, etc) are protected. Sexual content in photos and films is protected but requires viewers and participants to be at least 16.
Citizens are allowed to have sexual or romantic relationships with anyone over the age of 16. It is a major crime for anyone over the age of 16 to interact sexually with someone under 13. Each province has its' own laws regarding sexual relations with those between the ages of 13 and 16.
The rights of citizens over the age of 17 to carry personal weapons is protected. Chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons are prohibited. Any explosive more powerful than a hand grenade is restricted.
Citizens are guaranteed the right to a minimum wage that increases or decreases with inflation.
Sexual and/or romantic relationships between multiple individuals are common but are not formally/legally recognized by the government. Marriage is a foreign concept in Aramel.
Children are not raised by birth parents. After birth, a newborn is sent to live in what are known as Youth Enclaves. Agents are assigned to the children to guide them until they are 15.
Each citizen is permitted to produce no more than two children each. After a person has two offspring he or she is required to undergo sterilization within 4 months of the second birth. Exceptions are made if death occurs within that 4-month period.
Murder, rape, torture and treason are labeled as unforgivable crimes. Anyone convicted of these crimes is imprisoned for life and labeled as live donations.
Live donations may be used for organ donations or medical and scientific experiments.
Murder is excusable in cases of self-defense or defense of another person. Assisted suicide is also permitted.
Rape is considered having sexual intercourse with another person against his/her will, or sexual intercourse with anyone under 13.
Committing murder, rape, or torture against someone who is considered a live donation is not legal unless it is for medical or scientific purposes. Crimes against them carry a much lesser punishment, though.
Military
Aramel spends 55% of its' GDP on military expenses and boasts one of the most powerful militaries in the world. There are currently 250 thousand active soldiers in the Aramel Defense Forces, 2.1 million in reserve.
All citizens are required to register for the draft at the age of 17.
The nuclear arsenal of Aramel consists of 10,147 warheads. Their most powerful bombs currently in stock have yields of 10 megatons. Their largest test was 25 Megatons, the largest built was 80 megatons.
As of 1775, the entire nuclear arsenal of Aramel is mobile. Most are either on submarine-or-satellite-based missiles. The rest are carried by trucks.

This is mostly complete, but I will add more information over time.
