So in Godzilla Minus One we have a scene where Godzilla fights again the heavy cruiser Takao, the Takao had 10 × 20 cm/50 3rd Year Type No.2 naval guns (5x2) as its main gun and they did not mange to stop Godzilla. But what if Yamato had not been sunk but captured by the Americans and allowed to be used by the Japanese instead of Takao, would Yamato be more powerful with its 3 × triple 46 cm guns. Honestly, I have a hard time imagining how a living being, as large and armored as Godzilla, would be able to withstand the blast power of an artillery shell larger than 75mm caliber.
But anyway, let's play the game.
First, we would have to find the mechanics and engineers to get the Kanpon boilers back up and running.
Then, find enough ammunition, and clear the harbors of Japanese ports to allow the Yamato to move freely through the archipelago to track Godzilla.

So you better have a good shot, which means having some idea where to shoot at first, especially if Godzilla is immune to blast power.
