Wanna a separate thread on this.
What's the best strategy for Saddam Hussein if he wants to maximize Iraqs influence on the world? Whom to attack and whom to ally himself with?
In my opinion - pull off a Blitzkrieg and capture everything from Morocco to Oman-Yemen, destroying Israel in the process. This way Saddam becomes the unifier of the Arab world and the undisputed master of the world's oil, controlling 60-70% of world's oil reserves. Then ally himself with the USSR and send a few T-72s and MiG-21s for reverse engineering.
Alternatively - portray himself as an Islamic unifier instead of an Arab one and go dven further, to Turkey and Iran-Afghanistan-Pakistsn - though I am not sure the Baath party would accept a change in ideology
The question is - what arms can Iraq produce, gIven that spare parts are going to be running out pretty soon after the ISOT? Iran has been able to keep it's F-14s operational decades after being cut off from spare parts, can Iraq do the same with it's MiG-29s or 25s or whatever given enough ingenuity? While Irsqi technological edge in 1950 is vast, the world is progressing at a fast rate and in 20-25 years the edge will no longer be so prominent.
How do you expect the world to look 20 or 50 years after the ISOT, givdn all the butterflies caused by it?

Due to the current situation with Israel and that most of these countries wanted to exterminate the entire Jewish population i am going to close this thread.
