Let's say that Jerry Seinfeld decides to go for a 10th season. It runs on NBC from September 1998 to May 1999. Then that's when Jerry finally decides to call it quits. The finale airs on May 11th, 1999.
Jerry and George still get contacted by NBC regarding their pilot from 6 years ago and they want to do a 13-episode commitment. So that means Jerry and George will be moving to California. NBC offers them their own private plane. Jerry and George invite Elaine and Kramer to come with them. While they're on the plane, Kramer starts hopping up and down to try and get water out of his ears. But then the plane goes down. The 4 get scared fearing they will die and admit to some secrets. The plane stabilizes and makes an emergency landing in Latham, Massachusetts. While they're walking around town, they witness a carjacking. Kramer pulls out a video camera and records the whole thing. The carjacker drives off. Then the victim tells a policeman what just happened to him and the policeman proceeds to arrest Jerry, Elaine, Kramer and George for not helping the victim. They "did nothing" to stop a crime, staying true to what the show's about; Nothing. They violated the town's "Good Samaritan Law." So then the 4 sit in jail where they learn the punishment is quite severe: A fine of $85,000 and a minimum of 5 years in prison. George points out he and Jerry have to be in California next week. The guard's like "Oh, no. I don't think so". He tells them to get a lawyer because they will be prosecuted. So they hire Jackie Chiles who's shocked and outraged at the idea of a Good Samaritan Law. Meanwhile, the prosecutor wants to find out everything about Jerry, Elaine, Kramer and George. So they all go to court. The judge's name is Arthur Vandelay. George believes that's a good sign because that means they'll get off. People from the 4's past are brought into the court and are more than eager to testify against them for the ways they allegedly "wronged" them. The trial becomes a big media circus. The 4 are found guilty of criminal indifference and are sentenced to 1 year in jail. So they all sit inside jail and have the very first conversation they had in the first episode. In the final scene, Jerry (now wearing an orange prison suit) does his standup act and receives boos and jeers from the other prisoners, except Kramer and George. Then a prison guard escorts Jerry off the stage. The episode and series end right then and there.
Basically, the finale is exactly the same. Only 1 year later.
