Greetings! Ok, so here's the deal. I run a comic book CO-OP that uses a shared universe called NO-Earth. That means Not Our Earth. One of the things that I have been working on pretty hard the last month is our timeline. See, NO-Earth doesn't have a point of diversion, instead it's more of a parallel history than an alternate history. Major events still happen on more or less the same schedule. So this timeline is so far concentrating on places that are different from our own, but I want to fill in more as I get a chance. I have the whole thing up in an interactive timeline at this link. If you have a slow connection, the script might not load for you on the first try. So, what I'm looking for is feedback and suggestions for the timeline. Understand that it is for an on-going comic universe, but is also getting turned back into a gaming world (that was it's original commercial purpose) this summer. I would appreciate any crits, suggestions and comments. Eagle (I must be off)

The majority of the time spent on it is in research. It drives me bugnuts sometimes, just trying to find the little information that I need to fill out one entry.
Eagle (So that's really less of a drive and more of a short putt)

It is a work in progress. That's one of the reasons I posted it here, as I want some feedback on where I might have screwed up. Some of my screwups are of legendary proportions, and so I would like to minimise the effects of any such. Most people don't know history all that well, let along alternative history, and how things affect other things. It gives me headaches just trying to keep it all straight, which is part of the reason for coming here. You guys do this a lot more than I do.
I'm using the War of the Worlds Martian Invasion because 1) cool and 2) Public Domain. It's one of the main points of tech injection into the timeline.
Eagle (And I'm still figuring out what all it means)

By the time of the modern day, scientists pretty much agree that the Martian Invasion wasn't really Martians. That the planet is dead, and that if the invaders came from there, it was only as a staging area. They are not sure where they came from, but wherever it was, Mars is not high on the list. This is of course, wishful thinking. I have three races of dying Martians, the slugs (H.G. Wells), and the two main races from Edgar Rice Burroughs. In the century since then, the planet has mostly died, but we have a new series that I am doing the final edits on written by one of our contributers called Dead Planet. It's concerning a successful Mars colony that's stumbled across ruins on the planet. The slugs are interesting to me in that they have evolved past the use of physical labour, so use machines for everything. It's a very Victorian attitude, and was Wells' way of poking at society in addition to telling a good adventure story. I am now having problems with the software that runs the timeline, so I may be switching it out to something different. Eagle (Something that can handle more information)

No, I haven't. Sounds like something I might find enjoyable, however. I'm a big believer in using public domain characters and situations, as they give the audience a shared language of a sorts. All I have to do is say Martian Invasion, and most people snap to War Of The Worlds, which makes my job as a writer a lot easier. It's also a great diversion point that gives a reason for a steampunk era. I mean, think of all of the things that a Martian Invasion affects. Just on the technology alone I am working on an article that gives a much improved Airship using the martian tech. I think the twin aspects of Article X and the Peacekeepers will allow a plausible way for the LN to survive the war, and have a non-troops outlook by the modern day. Yah? And I have been working on the timeline some more today, I finally have the software problem overcome. Eagle (Glad I found this place)
