Recently I was looking at the article, "When Did the Articles of Confederation Cease to Be Law" and interestingly it reveals that Kentucky, under the Enabling Acts passed by Virginia, was to admitted by Congress into the United States as the 14th state under the Articles of Confederation no later than July 4, 1788. However, when the news arrived of New Hampshire ratifying the Constitution on July 2, it was decided that the Constitution was the law of the land and thus the Enabling Acts were voided and Kentucky statehood was delayed until 1792. However, what if New Hampshire or another rejected state the Constitution and thus admitting Kentucky as a state goes on as planned? Preferably though, what if enough states rejected the Constitution that a quorum fails and thus the Articles of Confederation remain in power and allowing Kentucky to join the Union in 1788? How would this affect other states and territories, particularly New York, North Carolina, Tennessee (part of NC at the time), and Vermont? Would a war possibly break out if there's enough agitation from the latter two?
