So here's another ISOT idea I had. San Diego is sent back in time to 1789, when the rest of California and Mexico are under Spanish control and George Washington has just become President of the United States on the other side of the country. San Diego visitor's map 1993The mayor at the time was Toni Atkins. The USS Carl Vinson was stationed at North Island in May of that year. (I would prefer it if the ship was there at the time for obvious reasons )

Well the two obvious questions would be: a) How self-supportable the city & base? How much does it rely on water, power, food etc from outside that won't be available now? Possibly some power from the carrier but could it supply the entire region and will things like pumps for water and sewage say be located within reach of the ISOT?
b) How in the 18thC world going to react to the region and vice versa? Spain is the internationally recognised owner of the region so are the up-timers going to try and seek some settlement with them or go/be forced down a more militant route? Similarly how will they react to the 1789 US, so distant that it can't easily be reached reliably by them and has no female suffrage and widespread acceptance of slavery and racism among other matters? Let alone how news from the up-timers might affect the wider world, for instance the French revolution? [Coupled be rocky for a certain artilleryman as both the royalists and the would be republicans would want to remove him from play I suspect.
