At the Battle of Berlin or immediately before.
Otherwise the butterflies would take hold quickly.

The last day most likely, maybe, he before the assassination was getting ready to move to the Alpine Redoubt, but you killing him forced his generals to cover it up by telling the world that he had killed himself (most because they where tiered of fighting and believe that with Hitler death the war will end), the result is the last cover up in the Third Reich with the events that we now, that he killed himself and Eva Braun.

This is probably the most likely option; perhaps you could try a few days beforehand but no farther.

A few days before would have either Himmler or Goering taking over, if you kill him on the last day than those two will already have betrayed Hitler who ordered their arrest and thus they cannot take over what remains of the Reich.

Even with Himmler or Goering, they cannot possibly beat the Soviets. The disparity was too large by that point.

They would most likely try to create a situation in which the Soviets would attack the Americans, both toughed that a war between the Allies and the Soviets would allow them to lead what was remaining of Germany.

I doubt they would have that kind of power when the Red Army is in their capital city.

Himmler had still the SS who where loyal to him and had nothing to lose, they could in a desperate attempt try to create a situation, like having one of their units using American weapons and vehicles attack the Soviets.

The Americans were too far away from Berlin to allow that; Berlin was surrounded by Zhukov's forces.

There should be a place where the SS using American weapons and vehicles could have create a incident.

I don't think the Americans and the Soviets were close enough in most places; perhaps on Elbe Day?

Well if Himmler or Goering would be in charge they would not have surrendered as grossadmiral karl doenitz did OTL, the war would be longer and in some places the Allies and Soviet would have meet each other in more places creating a situation where one of those meetings could be with a disguised SS unit.

If that's the case, I think I understand, although how they'd get American weaponry would be a little tough.

They did it during Operation Greif during the Battle of the Bulge, it would be not hard to do it again, would be cool to see Waffen-SS commando Otto Skorzeny leading that attack against a Soviet unit who thinks they are encountering a American unit but instead come under attack by them.
