What are the implications of a successful defense of Dunkirk? Perhaps the halt of the Panzers lasts longer?

I don't think its practical in 1940. A substantial bridgehead in 1914-18 possibly but by 1940 air power is too strong and the Germans have a clear superiority so supplying the pocket would be very costly and probably fairly quickly fatal to forces involved. It would only be practical for a short time if the forces further west were in a position to drive back NE and relieve the pocket, in turn isolating the Germans to the west and they were in no condition to without drastic changes to the earlier parts of the campaign.
