Hope you enjoy that docu-lecture.
What I found interesting was how the Roman units starting with the eight man squad, build up to the legion in steps, that is eerily similar to how a modern Western European (Franco Spanish) model operated up until WWI. Each step in the organization ladder mimics its 19th century European counterpart. I see very little difference with an 1860s Union army brigade structure, patterned after the French army of the time, and that "legion".
