The German authorities, I'd assume? As I understand it, the Bundeswehr barely qualifies as a military, as is, but compared to tribal Germans or Roman legions who cross through, they might as well be Gods on Earth once the inevitable firefights break out!  |

Quite — especially when tribal Germans’ faces scrunch in confusion, as Neo-Nazi uptimers start babbling about “DA JEWS!!!” in semi-recognizable tongues, seeing as modern German has certainly evolved from Proto-Germanic. On the flipside, there’d also be daring linguists, archaeologists, and historians who’d want to cross through the portal and study the downtimers on the other side, so assuming the German authorities eventually grant them clearance, you may very well see that happen. Well, assuming armed protection and immunization against downtimer diseases can be procured, that is.  |
