What I think would happen is, immediately post battle of Zab, with the Umayyads pretty much shattered- maybe Marwan II is killed in battle, the Armenian force sweeps in as late reinforcements (Wikipedia gives their strength as 90,000 as opposed to the 40,000 Abbasid army at the battle of Zab) and manages to push them back beyond the Euphrates or even the Zagros.
Meanwhile, with no undisputed Umayyad leader left, the Armenians take over the reigns of government of everything west of the Zagros and east of Libya and by the time a leader can be agreed on, they're too entrenched in power to just be kicked out. I'd imagine they'd end up Hellenized administratively within a couple decades, as Greek is the only language that's understood in Armenia, Syria and Egypt that's not Arabic. But I wanna know what would happen after this, even if I'm right
