What if the 1996 Anglo-American Doctor Who film starring Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor was more successful, both in the United States and Britain? Would this lead to an earlier return of the Doctor than the @ 2005 reboot?
If the question of its success is too much of a bow to draw, then how could it have been more successful?
I've watched it a few times and am very much a fan of McGann's work as an actor and believe that he would have made a very good Doctor in this era, which was close to his pomp as an actor.

Possibly. I watched it at the time, although can't remember too much about the plot now and hoped it would lead to a revival. Might have avoided the excesses of the recent series of the 2nd generation, although that might simply have occurred earlier.
