Japan made this agreement with the entente that they'd fight in WW1 on the condition that China wouldn't. What if the Entente made the agreement with China instead?

China would need to have something to offer to be considered. Japan was not only already allied with Britain, but had a fleet and had an army. Peking had neither.

The Chinese army of 1914 wasn’t bigger than the IJA to begin with.

But China eventually did join the Entente... even if it was quite symbolic...

It would have been cool if China could’ve become a imperial power before the Great War again. You know there is a really good alternative history known as Grey Tide of the East The alternative history is about if Germany decided not to invade Belgium and focused on Russia or maintaining a defensive strategy in the western front. This would be an interesting idea as Japan decides to join the central powers against France. I could see the central powers not caring if Japan decided to go after China. The central powers were happy to have the Ottoman Empire so I think they would be even happier to have China belonging to Japan as long of Japan was allied with Germany

China would be in an effective force. Unfortunately white supremacy probably would help confirm the beliefs with the poor quality Chinese troops. Transportation could also be a problem without a modern Chinese navy of troop transports. Japan was the modern country and pulled off small miracles to modernize almost overnight during the Meiji restoration. China was nowhere near Japan’s improvement of modernization and Japan have the advantage of being a small properly centralized power unlike the vast country of China.

Saying that China's forces weren't modernized enough (at that time!) isn't white supremacist.

Also, care to explain the Unfortunately, white supremacy probably would help confirm the beliefs with the poor quality Chinese troops to me here ore in a PM. I have always disavowed racism, but china couldn’t do very well in the Great War. I suspect people would, unfortunately, feel their racist beliefs would be conformed because of China's poor showing, but I could be wrong. It was several hundred years ago, China was in its glory days those days are gone. Their economy is not modern in the slightest sense, and I think bigotry would be worse if they participated instead of Japan. Japan is much different from china, and I think Japan alone would’ve done an excellent job against a significant European power facing toe to toe without the other European power being distracted in a great war. Japan played it bright during the great war by not sacrificing lives needlessly. It would be tragic for China to enter the great war though maybe less if they were subsidizing, leading, and training by British soldiers I don’t see the war would be very healthy for China anyway. I think there may have been a misunderstanding. By no means am I saying the people of china are inferior. Japan was the power that proved itself and they didn’t have a record, to my knowledge, of great historic technological marvels as did such as china. My aunt was a missionary to China and I’ve always found Chinese history interesting. If it wasn’t for China, Europe might have continued to b a backwater because Europeans could adapt some of the Chinese technologies. Japan almost overnight became a modern country china wasn't so fortunate

Saying that China's forces weren't modernized enough (at that time!) isn't white supremacist. My apologies again for the misunderstanding. I would like to say more, but I'm very busy at the moment. It was thought China would surpass Japan and reform herself instead Japan became a modern country and archived success. China an ability to reform and to modernize quicker compared to Japan has nothing to do with race or the people. the reasons why Japan modernize so quickly is because they were easier to modernize and control compared the vast amount of Chinas lands and people, which displays that a large empire is sometimes a burden. Japan didn't have the same disadvantages china had and Japan was able to mount up as a effective government that was stable which allowed no foreigners to have trading cities like China had I’m sorry for the confusion I’ll edit photos later when I’m not so busy

China joining WW1 would be pretty meaningless. At least, if it's on the Entente side. They didn't have much in the way of transportation, no relevant navy, and no industry to speak of. Sure, there were vast manpower reserves but that wasn't what this war was based on. It was based on materials and China wouldn't add much there. So their declaration of war would be pretty meaningless. The only real effect would be negative for the Entente because it would take them longer and more resources to reduce the German holdings in the Pacific without Japan dealing with those. So more disruption to shipping and more units having to be sent there. So really, the main effect of what you describe here would be the absence of Japan.
China joining the Central Powers would be a little more interesting because they could raise an army. Not a good army, mind you, but enough to occupy at least some Russian forces. That could have an impact on the war if fortune decides to lend a hand.
