Weimar Republic East Prussia from 9AM Koenigsberg time July 20, 1928 replaces the same area and timeslot on July 20, 1944. Paul von Hindenburg is likely at his manor in Neudeck, East Prussia in July 1928, which will prove interesting for the German Army leadership in 1944. |

Hitler disappears from the TL because he would have been at Wolfschanze in East Prussia that day, right?
Or had he flown to Berlin, or some other retreat outside of East Prussia?
If Hitler is gone, after the major crushing offensives of the summer and fall, the Germans are going to collapse faster.

Yes its the day of the Stauffenburg bomb. So Hitler's gone. But a non-senile Paul von Hindenburg is now in 1944.

I would agree that Germany would collapse faster. The Soviets are still some way away but in 1928 its less fortified and developed for war than in 1944. Plus the German state has lost a chunk of its military leadership as well as some leading Nazis including of course Hitler. - Possibly not other Nazis as see here the diagram on the right doesn't mention any names I recognise as leading party figures? However expect a period of uncertainty and confusion. That Hitler has disappeared will also confuse the plotters as they won't know the details of what's happened so do they still try and mount a coup?
I suspect that Hindenburg won't make a great difference other than to complicate matters somewhat. He's out of touch with events, technology etc and if some of the army rally to him its likely to deepen the divisions inside Germany. Plus I get the impression that Lindendoff was the brains in the pairing - albeit not the best decision maker at times. Furthermore while not as senile in 1928 he's still 80 years old so probably not in the best of conditions mentally for such a crisis.
