On January 1st, a powerful Time-traveler throws West Virginia to another Earth. Replacing parts of Gaul/France in 1213 BCE
The Capitol Charlestown ends up where Paris is historically located. 13 years before the start of the Bronze Age Collapse.
Even if WV is food sufficient the BAC did result in widespread famine.

As I'm from this state I shall follow this in the hopes this ends up being good. I just have to ask why pick a 2015-era West Virginia? Was there somebody in office in 2015 you wish to be the point of view?

Isn't that an alt-history book series about a mining town being sent back to the 17th century and whatever? I think I started to read a book in that series but never got too far into it. How close do you plan on being to that series? Are you just using the idea of having the state being sent back in time or will you be using people from the books?

As a man of the state in which this is based upon I would very much like to know if it is any good. I have read a few pages from it but have not yet read enough to hold any meaningful view on it nor the series.

Oh, well I don't plan on setting aside that much time to read it. I thought it was maybe four or five books that I could maybe do in a week or so. If it's nearly 30 books I'll just have to make do with whatever this turns out to be. I look forward to seeing what becomes of this.

Not so much the writing or info-dump. Alexander Inheritance series (3 books which I've read) has a cruise ship from 2017 go back to 321 BCE This scenario is a ramped up version

Thinking on this a bit wouldn't we try to stop the bronze age collapse at least the parts that we can realistically uplift? If we are replacing Gaul or at least a sizeable part of it world history as we know it is out the window. My guess is we uplift the nearby villages and by the time most of the rest of the world starts to fall we are already a sizeable power akin to the Romans.
Looking at when Rome was founded it seems we just removed one of the world's greatest empires. No way will we see them become a world power now. Hell by the looks of things we may have just removed Rome from being made at all. At any rate I'm sure this will be a fun read once we can get a chapter posted.

The city was built around 753 BCE. The BAC was very brutal but it didn't affect everyone equally. The Greeks and Hittites were hit first and collapsed entirety for bearing the brunt of the event. Egypt and Assyria BARELY survived it. The BAC started with people unable to grow enough food in the lands they have been doing so for countless generations. Egypt was one of the few exceptions. Disease, Violent Migrations, Breakdown of Copper-Tin Trade and Dissolving of any order soon followed. Unless WV wants to deal with a lot of refugees coming to them they need to prevent or stop the BAC immediately. A lot of new farming and mining is needed. This world is very advanced but one in which the Abrahamic religions aren't dominant but instead a very small minority. I think only Hinduism is active during this time. Still English-dominant. China does exist under the Shang Dynasty. Sooner or later they will find out about WV and start improving their own technology. Wondering how Vaccines and Modern Medicine affect the Demographics of this Alternate Earth, especially the Native Americans.

The city was built around 753 BCE. - Sorry for the late reply to this I haven't been on much the past few days. I'm sure the city could exist but the empire it gives birth to wouldn't likely never exist. As soon as we get an idea on where and when we are the nearby villages will no doubt be uplifted to something closer to what we enjoyed back in the 1900s. I think a 2015's era WV could keep a 1900s era tech level. My guess is a 1930-1940s era tech level. We would need to make a lot of what allowed us to have the stuff we used to have but I think that could be done in a matter of years. The big thing is uplifted everybody else in a way that doesn't cause the world to go Mad Max and see massive infighting for the new stuff. I would maybe give them the most basic of guns. No reason to give them the means to kill whole rows of troops like we could. A basic gun akin to what they had in the 1300-1400s would be fine I feel. A tube that one could place a fuse into and fire would be more than enough to uplift their level of warfare and ensure we still have the means to put them down should the need arise.

Do you believe that Knowledge, Economics and Increased Human Life Expentancy contributes to Irreligion? That's the only reason I can think of why Modern Scandinavia is much less Religious than Iraq Wouldn't WV spread Secularism by uplifting the Bronze Age Humans?

I think the more they learn about stuff the less gods seem to be useful answers. I mean gods were the go-to answers for like 90% of shit back when we didn't have the tools to proper seek out the true answers. A drop in religion wouldn't be too big a surprise. Some would still exist because it'll take time to get word of us but by then odds are they would just say we are gods seeing as we are so far ahead of them. You take a phone from the 1980s back to the 1700s and even the greatest minds would think it magic. You would just think it old. So much of what we view as normal would blow their minds. Seeing a 90-year-old would be news all on its own. Add the million other things we have and we would be viewed as gods.

How deeply tied slavery, misogyny and homophobia are to religion in your opinion? How does it affect this scenario?
