How willing are both sides to accept it? This is important as much of the successes under Edward III and then briefly under Henry V were due to the French royalists adapting tactics that fitted ideally for the generally much smaller English and allied forces to defeat them. Similarly how willingly would both sides, but again especially the French to allow ordinary plebes/peasants/yeomen weapons that would kill the ruling elite?
If those are not factors then France probably wins quickly as it simply has too much more resources in terms of men and wealth for England.
Other factors of course would be clashes with other powers and what is included in 'France'. For instance early in the conflict the very wealth County of Flanders saw conflict between the cities dominated by merchants and townsfolk and supported by England and the nobility supported by France. The former were largely crushed but in such a scenario if their more willing/capable to adapt to the new technologies and tactics then it could be a lot different. Ditto say with Brittany who's status with regards to France was contested.
Similarly Scotland attacked England at least once during Edward's reign and although it got badly defeated it would be a real massacre here if the English have ACW tech and tactics and the Scots are still reliant on spear blocs and the like. There were also interventions by both sides in a civil war in Castile and clashes in other regions.

Considering just how much better ACW weapons are they would use them very soon
Non-military technology such as Railroads and Printing Press would be accepted immediately
Interesting to see how this France handles the Black Death

There were gatling guns invented during the ACW? If so, that would replace arrows.

I don't know about that. There were serious issues in many areas of the world accepting the printing press for instance. Getting the clergy to accept the loss of their monopoly of education and literacy would be an issue. Also the idea of so much power spreading beyond the aristocracy, both militarily and economically will be deeply unpopular for the established ruling elites. Plus for railways especially that needs a hell of a lot of infrastructure, with metallurgy being far more advanced as well as knowledge of steam engines and far more advanced mines established to feed the related industries. Which given the fragmented nature of France and England's large iron and coal fields plus what they have in Wales would be a boost for the English if this all develops as part of the ISOT.
A lot would depend on how much technology has actually been brought back because as I say having functional railways requires a hell of a lot of supporting technology that would be totally new to the time. Especially if say the knowledge is present but the actual infrastructure isn't. It was a huge effort to build up the historical railway networks for instance let alone if your going to have to start from scratch in terms of iron mills, finding and digging mines etc.

Every technology, both military and civilian, used in the American Civil War is now available to both England and France They have it at the start and know how to make more of it such as Rifled-Muskets and Steam-trains Guess the Railroad is much easier to accept than the Printing Press. Those Old Priests would like a much faster form of transportation that is much more pleasant. |
