Cannamore
On the battle of Cannamore, the Mamluk Sultanate assisting the Kingdom of Calicut would win against the Portuguese in 1506 destroying the possibility of a Portuguese Naval Empire in the East although the focus of the Portuguese would now be in Africa instead at this point, forcing them to focus on the colonization of the Cape of Good Hope in hope of reestablishing a possibility of having colonies in the east again but those would not happen and the former Empire of Majapahit would fall under Muslim Princes including the Sultanate of Brunei who would gain its eastern vassals
The Ottoman subjugation of the Mamluks and repulsion of the Portuguese in India and the East Indies would result in Ottoman total domination of India’s trade routes by proxy and the Ottomans would partner with Malacca and Brunei and the trade with East Asia would be used to fund wars in the Balkans as well.

American Colonization After the loss of the opportunity to the East, the Portuguese would focus on their own opportunities in Africa and Brazil which they have already discovered and they would also focus on improving their colony in Mozambique and their relations with their tributary Congo and the establishment of Angola. Castile would focus on the colonization of the Americas and they were able to acquire the colonies of New Spain from the old Mexica polity and their South American colonies which were built on Tawantinsuyu and the two countries would have issues in regards to their territories in the Americas but the Portuguese would have an almost monopoly of Africa. Under Queen Claude of England, Humphrey Gilbert would found the colony of Newfoundland which would start the English colonization of the Americas which would be challenged by the French and the Spanish.

Inheritance of the Netherlands On October 25, 1555, Charles V would abdicate and partition his Empire giving the Burgundian Inheritance to his daughter Maria of Spain and her husband Maximilian and the Spanish inheritance to Philip II, and Charles V would retire to a monastery in Spain after his own abdication. Maria of Spain and her husband would treat the Protestants in the Burgundian Possessions with tolerance which is something that other Western European countries and the Low Countries under Maria and Maximilian would be united with Austria on the death of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand I after her husband became the Holy Roman Emperor as Maximilian II. On 1554, Philip II would remarry to Maria of Viseu, the dowager Queen of England, the mother of Edward VI.
