As the moment the North Tower of the WTC in NYC starts to collapse on 9/11, the full territory, airspace, and territorial waters (up to the three mile nautical limit) of the Ottoman Empire, it's tributaries and vassals, arrives from the same timeslot of September 11, 1901. stevep, you're our Ottoman and Turkish buff, any ideas on effects and consequences'?

As i have said, tagging members is not nice, let member go to thread they want to go by themselves. But as i also have said, if you are already engaged in a thread with a other, tagging is allowed if you respond to a post they made ore they are already taking part in a thread.

I wouldn't say I'm the "Ottoman and Turkish buff" and don't want to get too heavily involved but from what I understand this is what your got.
This is before either the Balkan Wars of 1912-13, or the Italian war of 1910-11 so Ottoman territories include a swath of territory from Constantinople across to Albania along with most/all of modern Libya. Also vassels would mean Cyprus and Egypt would be included. Along with much of the western part of Saudi Arabia, including the Muslim holy cities of Mecca and Medina. Possibly also at least a claim to parts of Yemen and also Kuwait. I suggest you have a read of this wiki page, Dissolution_of_the_Ottoman_Empire which covers the final years of the empire, although it starts from 1908.
Key points to note. a) A large chunk of the world is now a century in the past under a despotic and crumbling empire. This isn't going to last as assorted people will want a say in grabbing areas of interest and whether the UN can maintain any sort of order I don't know. However expect Serbia, Greece, Bulgaria and Saudi to look towards their claims while Iran and Russia are likely to have interests. There will be a demand to avoid some of the OTL massacres, especially of the Armenians while access to the straits will be a big issue.
b) There will be a hell of a shock to the world economy. A sizeable market has disappeared along with much of the existing oil and gas production or connecting pipelines. [Kuwait, Iraq, possibly parts of the Saudi fields]. A further down side is that the oil and gas extracted since 1901 is now back again so could be very bad for global warming. Furthermore its now the 1901 Suez Canal which might well be in adequate for a lot of modern shipping - not sure when Egypt upgraded it but could be after 2001. Also assorted facilities and bases have gone while there might be issues with diseases which have been largely removed from the region and much of the world.
